Story
On the night of the school prom, a young teacher is found dead in the Thames in a drug-related accident. It seems - at first - to be another sign that Cherringham High is spiralling out of control. The new head however is convinced that the teacher's death is suspicious and quietly calls in Sarah Edwards. With her one-time detective partner, Jack Brennan, back in America, Sarah is at first reluctant to take on the case. But when she does get involved, it soon becomes clear that the tragic accident might really be a case of murder - and even Sarah herself could be in danger.

Story
This collection of 25 Hercule Poirot adventures is compiled from short stories written by Agatha Christie for The Sketch magazine in 1923 from March to December. In these stories, including "The Disappearance of Mr. Davenheim", "The Veiled Lady", and "The Adventure of the Egyptian Tomb", the eccentric private detective slowly and surely solves mysteries involving jealousy, revenge, and greed. These stories were well-received at the time and cemented Christie's reputation as the worthy successor to Arthur Conan Doyle.

Publisher's Summary
You’ve lost your job as a department store lingerie buyer, your car’s been repossessed, and most of your furniture and small appliances have been sold off to pay last month’s rent. Now the rent is due again. And you live in New Jersey. What do you do?
If you’re Stephanie Plum, you become a bounty hunter. But not just a nickel-and-dime bounty hunter; you go after the big money. That means a cop gone bad. And not just any cop. She goes after Joe Morelli, a disgraced former vice cop who is also the man who took Stephanie’s virginity at age 16 and then wrote details on a bathroom wall. With pride and rent money on the line, Plum plunges headlong into her first case, one that pits her against ruthless adversaries - people who’d rather kill than lose.
The New York Times Book Review calls Stephanie Plum “a Jersey girl with Bette Middler’s mouth and Cher’s fashion sense.” In Stephanie Plum, Evanovich has created a resourceful and humorous character who stands apart from the pack of gritty female detectives.

Detective Delightful
I've not laughed out loud at a crime story before. The author's text and narrator's interpretation are a perfect match. The romantic theme had a predictable storyline, but it was also part of the amusement. It was a delightful change from the definitely not amusing crime stories I usually listen to.

Looking for redeeming qualities
Liked the voice and tone of narrator however her excessive pauses at the end of many sentences, was very irritating. Long enough that it made you wonder if something had happened to your AirPods.
I am more than halfway through the book and I had to question why I was listening. It was not engrossing enough that it captured my attention, and I found myself drifting into other thoughts and not paying attention. That was OK though because it moves. slowly enough, that you still had the general gist of the story. Ho-hum is the best rating I can give it and I quit after 8 chapters

The narrator wasn't my favorite. All characters besides Stephanie have the same accent and voice. But at least the accent is true to the story location. :-) Looking forward to a second book.

It's so weird
I did everything I could think of for making money.
Since I was old enough to walk.
But I never did bought a car with old appliances.
That was so funny.
I don't think I will be a bounty hunter one day.
I will leave this to you guys.
I just think that it's taking forever to get the end of the book.
