Description

2008 Audie Award Finalist for Achievement in Abridgement

Edgar Award Winner, Best Fact Crime, 2008

Polls reveal that 85 percent of Americans believe there was a conspiracy behind Lee Harvey Oswald. Some even believe Oswald was entirely innocent. In this encyclopedic, absorbing audiobook, Vincent Bugliosi shows how the public has come to believe such lies about the day that changed the course of history.

Bugliosi has devoted almost 20 years of his life to this project, and is determined to show that, despite the overwhelming popular perception, Oswald killed Kennedy and acted alone.

The brilliant prosecutor of Charles Manson and the man who forged an ironclad case of circumstantial guilt around O. J. Simpson in his best-selling Outrage, Bugliosi is perhaps the only man in America capable of "prosecuting" Oswald for the murder of President Kennedy. Reclaiming History is a narrative compendium of fact, ballistic evidence, reexamination of key witnesses, and common sense. Every detail and nuance is accounted for, every conspiracy theory revealed as a fraud upon the American public.

Bugliosi's irresistible logic, relentless pursuit of the truth, and command of the evidence shed fresh light on this American nightmare, providing a new understanding of what did and did not happen in Dallas on November 22, 1963. At last we know what really happened. At last it all makes sense.

Ce que les critiques en disent

"Vincent Bugliosi is an American master of common sense, a punishing advocate and a curmudgeonly refreshing voice of reason....With this work, Bugliosi has definitively explained the murder that recalibrated modern America. It is a book for the ages." (Los Angeles Times Book Review)

This was an experience

this book goes into detail some of it gory detail. not only does it cover the last 24 hours of JFK's life but it goes into detail about the aftermath investigation and the Warren Commission. and it also tackles a lot of the conspiracy theories including the Oliver Stone film JFK. really worth the listen. I used to be counted among the conspiracy theorists mostly because of the Oliver Stone film but thanks to a book like this I realize just how stupid it really was. There was no conspiracy it's as simple as that.

The True Authority on the JFK Case

This book began with the LWT mock trial between Vincent Bugliosi, prosecuting Oswald, and Gerry Spence defending. Bugliosi handedly dismantled Spence, who relied heavily on theatrics, innuendo, and emotional appeals. Bugliosi continues his focus on the FACTS of the case, rather than innuendo, baseless allegations, and unprovable theories.

The story itself is laid out in great detail, handling all the pertinent witnesses and events of the day and it’s aftermath. Bugliosi eventually turns his focus to conspiracy theorists and deals directly with every theory imaginable, exposing how many misuse and abuse the Warren Commission Report. Just an example is Dr. Crenshaw, whose presence at Parkland is confirmed in the Commission’s Report but is that of a junior resident showing films prior to the President’s arrival. When Crenshaw got to Trauma Room One the incision for a tracheotomy had been made to the throat wound, thus he believed it was an entrance wound.

Bugliosi’s work helps expose the reality that many intelligent people don’t think about this subject in an intelligent manner, being led astray by what are either deceptive or lazy individuals. How many people have actually read all the volumes of the Warren Commission? Even this book seems like an impossible feat for many, the end notes and references alone are larger than many books published on JFK.

Highly recommend getting the book itself, but this is a very accessible route to the content of the book. Vincent Bugliosi remains the Authority on this case. If you have ANY interest in this case, this is the must read/listen.

Enjoy!
