Description

Scandi noir!
Loved the prose, loved the characterization, loved the narrator. I likef the previous book but was disappointed by its ending. Red Snow is more unpredictable which was great - kept me on my toes until the last chapter.

Not as capturing as Dark Pines
I really enjoyed the first book “Dark Pines” however I felt that this follow up book did not keep my attention as well as the first. It was also quite predictable. The narration is great.

Deeply Human, Deep In Setting, No Real Payoff.
It was well performed, and the writing had a power of description to it but could a little distracting. The characters were human; some strange but understandable. It is a mystery so there is a lot of information that leads this way and that, I did not read the first book in the set, as this was on sale when I crossed path with it. I think my disappointment is with the ending. The main character experiences the events, acts only as a wittiness. The ending has her acted upon, nothing of her own skill or will effects the events or resolves things. I was looking for one more twist to pull things together... but it didn't come.
Good, but the puzzle solves itself.

brutal book. so long and boring. would not recommend. even when it came time to uncover the killer it was so obvious. do not waste your time.
