1990.

Please write and tell me why you should live here.

Toby Dobbs received a big Victorian house with too many bedrooms to count as a wedding present from his father, but his marriage is over within a month. Very alone, and very lonely, Toby posts an advertisement seeking the Unexpectedly Alone to become his roommates. Fifteen years later, the wayward souls he takes in are still living with him, with no intention of leaving.

2004.

Please tell me how I can convince you to move out.

Toby Dobbs has met Leah Pilgrim from across the road, and they're falling in love. But before they can begin a new life together, Toby and Leah must help Toby's house of sweet slackers and lovelorn misfits grow up, solve their problems, and set themselves free. But can their new relationship survive the test?

Amazing Narrator

This story was great, but the best part was definitely Helen Duff’s narration! She uses an array of different accents, and tones of voice, to really bring life to all the different characters. I thoroughly enjoyed listening!

Empowering

This book was a tad slow to start but that was needed in a way to introduce each character properly. I highly recommend it.

A slow story, worth sitting through, amazing narration

The narrator was amazing and really gave each character their own personality. The story itself is a little slow, but I’m glad I stayed the course. It is a beautiful story about human beings with all of their flaws, all of their uniqueness and al of their heart.

Oh what a tangled web we weave.

This story was captivating. It took a little bit to get into but the characters are so interesting and as the story plays out it touches your humanity and your heart. I really enjoyed this book, very good writing.

Enjoyable

This is not one of Lisa Jewell’s thrillers but it is a good story, full of entertaining and sympathetic characters. I would recommend this as a light and easy read.

Loved every minute!

Keeps the reader engaged from the very start, such lovely storytelling. I particularly enjoyed getting to know every character. The narrator is delightful, as it is always with Helen Duff.
Another gem from Lisa’s jewelry box. I highly recommend this to anyone in need to be reminded of those important life lessons about relationships of any and all nature.
