Publisher's Summary

Across the country women are being murdered by a killer who leaves no evidence, no fatal wounds, no signs of struggle, and no clues to a motive. They are, truly, perfect crimes. In fact, the only thing that links the victims is the man they all knew: Jack Reacher.

What the critics say

“Reacher is one of the more interesting suspense heroes to come along in a while.” (San Antonio Express News)

“Jack Reacher, the wandering folk hero of Child’s superb line of thrillers faces a baffling puzzle in his latest adventure…a brain-teasing puzzle that gets put together piece by fascinating piece...and a central character with Robin Hood-like integrity and an engagingly eccentric approach to life.” (Publishers Weekly)

“Deeply satisfying...plan to stay up long past bedtime and do some serious hyperventilating toward the end.” (Kirkus Reviews)

Awesome Story Terrible Narration

High recommend read this book yourself as it would be worth every minute. The audible book needs to be re-recorded as the inflections used for the FBI agents and the women are totally wrong.

Running Blind

Terrible narration. Could not wait to finish this book and not in a good way. The story itself was interesting but every time the narrator had to read the part of a woman it was grating on the ears. Also the writing could have been better.

Great Series

If you plan on listening to this book, I strongly suggest you read/listen to the earlier books in the series to get some background. otherwise I would recommend this to anyone looking for a thrilling read/listen.

Not very believable

The way the FBI talk to Reacher is totally unbelievable and their childlike attitude distracted from the story. The narrator was OK but not great.

Lagging story

The story is generally good but there are many sections where the story lags . It was a good book but not the best Reacher story that I have listened to.

Much improved & fast paced

Great story and author’s writing has vastly improved. Similarity, the narrator is better here than earlier books.

intriguing plot keeps up the level of interest throughout

I thought I had read all the early Reacher books but must have missed this one so when I saw it on sale it was an easy purchase decision. The story grabs your interest right away with multiple subtle plot turns helped with convincing narration. Finished listening in a few days and realized why I really enjoyed that original Reacher era (more so than the more recent high action unconvincing story lines).

Avoid this, especially if you are a Reacher fan.

This book is unlike any other Reacher novel I’ve listened to – in a bad way. The narrator has one normal voice for Reacher, but other characters shout angrily in harsh voices throughout the entire book. Several characters are consistently obstinate, stupid and brash and it didn't make sense as to why they acted that way. I really wanted them to stop talking.
This book has none of the subtlety, light humour, interesting character development of the other books. It feels like Lee Child didn’t write it. It also contains demeaning & horrific details of violence to women.
I don’t recommend it at all.

Not engaging

The narrators voices were like an over the top stand up routine. the story was pointlessly convoluted. sorry. it's a nope for me.
