Description

In this riveting, ultrarealistic novel from J. L. Bourne, a man struggles to survive after the US infrastructure collapses and martial law engulfs the streets of America.

In the not-too-distant future, during an unacknowledged mission inside the Syrian border, a government operative unwittingly triggers an incredible event that alters the course of society. A terrible weapon has been unleashed - a weapon that, left to run its course, will destroy the moral fabric of humanity.

In the midst of crisis, the population struggles to survive in a world short on vital resources. Inflation cripples the US economy, and post-war armored military vehicles patrol the streets.

One man stands up to push back the overwhelming wave of tyranny triggered by the onset of nationwide martial law. How can he possibly succeed against a high-tech and tyrannical enemy that is hell-bent on ripping liberty from the pages of future history?

From the author and military expert who brought listeners the riveting horror series Day by Day Armageddon, Tomorrow War is a compelling account of an alternate dystopian America located just down the tracks of oblivion.

Everything by J.L. Bourne is good

Great story pacing and character building. Plausible SHTF scenario, with a bit of over-the-top survivalist characters. (Could the boxcar dude REALLY exist? I mean...really?)

Ready for Book 2! Excellent story as always!

Any additional comments?

Great story, really gets you thinking about whats going on now. Couldnt put it down. If you like JL's other books, Day by Day Armageddon then you will love this one as well. Great technical detail, great story and character development. Ready for the next book in either of his series!

STUD FINDER

HIGH FUNCTIONING MORONS
Six very entertaining hours. Bourne does have a slightly different take on the post apocalyptic movement. In most books the government tries to help, but usually ends up being part of the problem. In this book our government is purposely the bad guy. Our KANGAROO GOVERNMENT brought civilization down on purpose, but I guess we have to find out in a future book why? Now our government with help of the ONE PERCENTERS is jailing everyone and oppressing us.

Oops!
I said six very entertaining hours, but the book is eight hours long. For six hours I was giving this five stars, but the last two hours were kind of boring. My mind starting wondering and I could not concentrate. Bourne needs to be more creative and give us food for thought, not just shoot-em up chase scenes. I also thought he could have explained why the US government did this. I guess he is holding that for a sequel. I also am not a fan of things being too easy. One or two days before the apocalypse, he gets his shelter built. He empties his bank account to get this done, because a co-worker prepper, warns him that the apocalypse is going to happen any day. He orders a small shelter and they just happen to install a big shelter. They just happen to set everything up for him. As another reviewer mentions, there are some abrupt transitions in the story. One minute he is in his shelter, the next he is flying to his brother's house, who is under attack. It seems like some stuff was edited out.

The narrator is excellent

Very entertaining

Very enjoyable for the train commute, drop in and out as you please. I would have liked the author to explore the collapse a little more. I enjoyed the narration.

Scary what if.

I really liked this new story. A few things i would've done differently myself, but what a ride. Max "redacted" was a cool new character and I know there's going to be more. At least I hope so.

Could have been truly great.

Any additional comments?

This is in fact a very good book. But as some of the other reviewers also note, the author does seem to go a bit overboard with his anti-government sentiments.

The author is a somewhat heavy-handed and frequently invokes the various amendments of the Bill of Rights to justify the actions of the main person.

Even the total collapse of worldwide civilisation is caused by the US Government : "evil or incompetence? Does it matter?"

The examples for showing how evil the government really is aren't really subtle such quoting Mao and making the case for gun rights by denying food to a young woman with a young child, going for the sympathy vote.

Yet not to offend the good men and women serving the US government the author elects the plot device in which the US government is so evil that they use a gang of biker criminals as the law enforcement. Again, the author goes a bit overboard in the evilness, by describing how these people drive around with the head of a decapitated woman for their sexual (oral) pleasures.

As said, it is a very good book, and I enjoyed listening to it. But it is unnecessary marred.

Excellence

DBDA was an entertaining series. TW is the true horror story. Excellent book once again from JL Bourne. Read it (or audio book it for a long flight) now and prepare for a real adventure-horror experience.

Awsome!!!

Very realistic depiction of an economic collapse but not on an apocalyptic scale. Reminds me of Red Dawn

Pretty good.

Where does Tomorrow War rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I have to be honest, this book is good enough, but that's not saying it's outstanding, and I'd rather be able to say that. I crave books on this type of serious disaster and confusion. Give me a good virus or natural disaster or nuclear war and I'm all in, so it's not hard to get me here, but having said that, it ran dry or just too matter of fact for me at times.

What did you like best about this story?

The subject matter and hearing a story that entails another person's story or imagination concerning it.

Have you listened to any of Kevin T. Collins and Jay Snyder ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

no, I haven't.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I stayed with it to the end. It was interesting enough for me that I wanted to finish it.
