Histoire
Published first in 1912, Psychology of the Unconscious was one of the most important stepping stones in the development of Jung’s thought and practice. It has a long subtitle: A Study of the Transformations and Symbolisms of the Libido. A Contribution to the History of the Evolution of Thought. This expressed the underlying impetus - a break from the view of the libido and its functions as taught by Sigmund Freud, which Jung had earlier adopted. It was from this point that the two approaches, which came to be known as the Swiss and Viennese schools, emerged.

The Red Book, published to wide acclaim in 2009, contains the nucleus of C. G. Jung's later works. It was here that he developed his principal theories of the archetypes, the collective unconscious, and the process of individuation that would transform psychotherapy from treatment of the sick into a means for the higher development of the personality.

Man and His Symbols owes its existence to one of Jung's own dreams. The great psychologist dreamed that his work was understood by a wide public, rather than just by psychiatrists, and therefore he agreed to write and edit this fascinating book. Here, Jung examines the full world of the unconscious, whose language he believed to be the symbols constantly revealed in dreams.

Continuing where Thus Spoke Zarathustra left off, Nietzsche's controversial work Beyond Good and Evil is one of the most influential philosophical texts of the 19th century and one of the most controversial works of ideology ever written. Attacking the notion of morality as nothing more than institutionalised weakness, Nietzsche criticises past philosophers for their unquestioning acceptance of moral precepts. Nietzsche tried to formulate what he called "the philosophy of the future".

This collection of 11 wide-ranging lectures which appeared originally in 1933, was based on lectures previously given when Jung was in the process of absorbing a considerable period of study of Eastern religions, Gnosticism and other religious sources. It was a time, according to the translator Cary F. Baynes, ‘when the Western world stands on the verge of a spiritual rebirth...after a long period of outward expansion, we are beginning to look inside ourselves once more.’

Awareness awakens you to the truth that you possess everything you need right now to be happy and fulfilled. Happiness is your natural state. You don't need to do anything to acquire it; you only need to drop something. This audiobook shows you what that is. There is not a single person who ever gave time to being aware who’s quality of life didn't change. You see life differently because you are different. You respond to people and situations differently. You see things you have never seen before. Beautiful things. You're much more energetic, much more alive.

It can be said of very few books that the world was changed as a result of its publication - but this is certainly the case of Capital: A Critique of Political Economy by Karl Marx (1818-1883). Volume 1 appeared (in German) in 1867, and the two subsequent volumes appeared at later dates after the author's death - completed from extensive notes left by Marx himself.

From the author of 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos comes a provocative hypothesis that explores the connection between what modern neuropsychology tells us about the brain and what rituals, myths, and religious stories have long narrated. A cutting-edge work that brings together neuropsychology, cognitive science, and Freudian and Jungian approaches to mythology and narrative, Maps of Meaning presents a rich theory that makes the wisdom and meaning of myth accessible to the critical modern mind.

Histoire
The late Carl Rogers, founder of the humanistic psychology movement and father of client-centered therapy, based his life's work on his fundamental belief in the human potential for growth. A Way of Being was written in the early 1980s, near the end of Carl Rogers's career, and serves as a coda to his classic On Becoming a Person. More philosophical than his earlier writings, it traces his professional and personal development and ends with a prophetic call for a more humane future.

Description
Modern Man in Search of a Soul is the classic introduction to the thought of Carl Jung. Along with Freud and Adler, Jung was one of the chief founders of modern psychiatry. In this book, Jung examines some of the most contested and crucial areas in the field of analytical psychology: dream analysis, the primitive unconscious, and the relationship between psychology and religion.

This is a dry listen - be prepared to focus
I knew this wasn't going to be a light listening book going in, but wow this requires a lot of intense concentration. I sometimes forgot a point or thesis that was made and 5 minutes later the topic of discussion was still referring to that point and I couldn't make any useful connections. Very challenging. Not quite what I thought it would be. Very academic reading.
Also, the narrator does not do a great job of keeping you engaged, it's all up to you. Make sure you drink your coffee before this one.

great material - poor delivery
very fascinating perspectives. Hard to follow the reader, his voice is actually robotic at times. I read similar reviews, but thought it would be easier to stick with. Sometimes I don't even want to listen because his voice detracts from the content.

It’s Jung. It’s worth it.
There were times when I questioned if I was listening to a human narrator or an AI generated voice. This detracted from the enjoyment of listening to Jung’s thoughts but not enough that I wouldn’t recommend the listen.

I cannot imagine a path in personal development in wich this book will go unnoticed. If a person wishes to understand themselves and therefore the human condition C.G.Jung is a great entry. this book is a huge asset to any psychology student, or readers. There is a lot to take in. I definitely recommend having a notebook nearby.
the narration could be a bit slower.

Great material but not well read.
I am truly enlightened by Jung’s work. I listened three times, so far. Lack of enthusiasm and expression detracted from the presentation.. The reader did not seem to have taken the work seriously. Thank you for making this book available in this form. I found that by listening to the text being read, I could concentrate on the content and pronunciation, which when reading it myself, I had missed.

Immensely Valuable Book
I truly enjoyed this book, hearing it read was great for understanding concepts. However, the speakers voice was easy to dismiss. His speaking was clear and concise, but it just lulled me / morphed into white noise at points. I had to rewind several times due to getting distracted. Compared to the other Carl Jung books which heavily drew me in based off the enthusiasm of the speaker, this book took longer to complete based off that.

i liked the content but it feels too formal, too dense to quickly read. Some chapters are really dry. The narrator also has a very monotone voice so you keep zoning out.
