Publisher's Summary

Corporate flameout Ned Altimer dreams of leaving his world behind. So, when Earthblood Online splashes onto the VRMMO scene, he dives in and never looks back.

His advantages are twofold: exclusive access to the game’s three-day Head Start period, and a ridiculously handsome talking axe named Frank who has knowledge of the game’s deepest secrets...if the magnificent Frank ever feels like sharing them.

But those advantages also make Ned a target. Once the Head Start period ends, his fellow players will stop at nothing to rip that suave, violent, yet disarmingly charismatic axe right out of his hands.

In 72 hours, the greatest manhunt in gaming history is set to begin.

It’s gonna be a lot of fun.

Great listen

The underdog becomes the hero type book, fantastic narration loved the story line as the book continues on you get a good feel for the MC and learn later on why he considered such a great failure. The author take you through highs and lows and keeps the story fresh and exciting, I hope to see the series continue on, Thanks for your imagination I appreciate a good book, please carry on with you work!

Very enjoyable read (listen?)

Good story, good pace, well written. Voice acting is great too.

A little more technical than some other LitRPGs, but that comes with the genre. It’s not distracting, and there’s info that you need to know in there!

If you’re a fan of “He who fights with monsters” like I am, you’ll also enjoy this series.

heck yeah!

Main character seemed a little harsh at the start but really grows as the story developed. A snarky side kick who makes wise cracks at his expense was very enjoyable! An excellent read that kept me in suspense while in combat, which I find is hard to do in books. highly recommended

New addiction

Starts off very strong and only gets better as the book/series goes on. The workbuilding and plot is revealed with great pace, and the dialogue is quite funny. Particularly great if you’ve played MMORPGs before, because a lot of emphasis is put on stats/abilities/leveling etc.

Good book

For the first hour or so I wasn’t thrilled, but it did draw me in and I enjoyed the book. Characters are likeable Travis baldree does a great job narrating.

A MUST READ

Just incredible from start to finish. I read an earlier review in which the reviewer stated that they felt bad for being so generous with 5 star ratings after reading Shadeslinger, which truly deserves it. This is a sentiment I echo entirely.

There is so, so much to recommend this book, from the world building, to the characters, to the Lit-RPG mechanics; however, something that really stood out to me was the author's mastery over the concept of setup and payoff. This often overlooked ability to build tension before leading to a resolution is something that is on full display here, and it makes for a fantastic read.

This review is already getting long so I'll just finish with this: Travis fking Baldree. I'm convinced this guy could narrate the dictionary and make it engaging, but give him such a fun and engaging cast of characters as Shadeslinger - shout out to Frank! - and he will run away with it. Which he absolutely did.

Bottom line: READ THIS BOOK

We all need a lil Frank in our lives

Wasn't sure what I was getting into when I started this "read" but glad I did. Liked that the MC isn't perfect and had good character development and growth throughout. Loved the story and the performance really brought everything to life. Frank is awesome 👌

a true 5 star

i am usually pretty liberal with my reviews. as long as the books don't displease me i am all for supporting the author's. but then you come across something this good and you feel bad that you gave so many high ratings because a book of this caliber really stands above and beyond just being a good book. I laughed out loud, i felt gripped and finished this audiobook within a day a half despite it being fairly long. couldn't recommend this more.
