Publisher's Summary

Narrated by Stephen King, Matthew Broderick, Michael C. Hall, Paul Giamatti, Will Patton, Norbert Leo Butz, Lois Smith, Dylan Baker, Kyle Beltran, Dana Ivey, Robert Petkoff, David Morse, and Frances Sternhagen.

The master at his scarifying best! From heart-pounding terror to the eeriest of whimsy - tales from the outer limits of one of the greatest imaginations of our time!

In "The Mist", a supermarket becomes the last bastion of humanity as a peril beyond dimension invades the earth.

Touch "The Man Who Would Not Shake Hands", and say your prayers.

There are some things in attics that are better left alone - things like "The Monkey".

The most sublime woman driver on earth offers a man "Mrs. Todd's Shortcut" to paradise.

A boy's sanity is pushed to the edge when he's left alone with the odious corpse of "Gramma".

If you were stunned by Gremlins, the Fornits of "The Ballad of the Flexible Bullet" will knock your socks off.

Trucks that punish and beautiful teen demons who seduce a young man to massacre; curses whose malevolence grows through the years; obscene presences and angels of grace - here, indeed, is a night-blooming bouquet of chills and thrills.

Great stories, presentation needs works

As is most early King material, these are honest, down to earth, good old-fashioned scary stories. The narrators, for the most part, do a fine job of relating the tone of each tale. BUT, what I cannot understand, is why an audio collection of short stories is labeled by chapter, not story (as in the print version). For the price of the books, certainly Audible could have put just a smidge more effort into organizing the material.

Enjoyed most of the short series, the book was perfect for driving to and from work as many of the chapters were 50 mins long

Great mix of stories

in many ways I think that King is a better short story writer than long. this collection is in example of that. some really great stuff is found here, including not all being horror. great use of different narrators

I could not finish this book.

Great narrators as always with most Stephen King books but some content was over the top disturbing.

An amazing, creepy collection of short stories

The book starts off very strong and continues all the way through.

Now granted some stories aren't as strong as others, but this book had me HOOKED from front to back. Even during some of the weaker moments. There are several unforgettable, skin crawling, and well written stories in here, that it's a must have for any horror fan! Especially for any aspiring King fans.

Not only are the stories creepy, but the narration really plays a big part in illustrating these stories. Definitely don't skip out on this one!! #audible1
