Comedy superstar Mike Myers writes from the (true patriot) heart about his 53-year relationship with his beloved Canada. Mike Myers is a world-renowned actor, director and writer and the man behind some of the most memorable comic characters of our time. But, as he says, "No description of me is truly complete without saying I'm a Canadian". He has often winked and nodded to Canada in his outrageously accomplished body of work, but now he turns the spotlight full-beam on his homeland.

Bryan Cranston landed his first role at seven, when his father, a struggling actor and director, cast him in a United Way commercial. Soon Bryan was haunting the local movie theater, memorizing and reenacting favorite scenes with his older brother. Acting was clearly the boy's destiny - until one day his father disappeared. Suddenly destiny took a backseat to survival. Seeking something more stable, perhaps subconsciously trying to distance himself from his absent father, Cranston decided on a career in law enforcement.

That stammer. Those basset-hound eyes. That bone-dry wit. There has never been another comedian like Bob Newhart. In this, his first audiobook ever, Newhart gives his brilliant and bemused twist on a multitude of topics, including flying, the trials of a family holiday in a Winnebago, and more serious subjects, such as golf. And, of course, there are side-splittingly funny stories from his life and career. Who else has a drinking game named after him? ("Hi, Bob!")

Description
Nominated for a 2014 Grammy in the Spoken Word category!
Hilarious and heartfelt observations on aging from one of America's favorite comedians, now that he's 65, and a look back at a remarkable career.
Billy Crystal is 65, and he's not happy about it. With his trademark wit and heart, he outlines the absurdities and challenges that come with growing old, from insomnia to memory loss to leaving dinners with half your meal on your shirt. In humorous chapters like "Buying the Plot" and "Nodding Off," Crystal not only catalogues his physical gripes, but offers a road map to his 77 million fellow baby boomers who are arriving at this milestone age with him. He also looks back at the most powerful and memorable moments of his long and storied life, from entertaining his relatives as a kid in Long Beach, Long Island, and his years doing stand-up in the Village, up through his legendary stint at Saturday Night Live, When Harry Met Sally, and his long run as host of the Academy Awards. Listeners get a front-row seat to his one-day career with the New York Yankees (he was the first player to ever "test positive for Maalox"), his love affair with Sophia Loren, and his enduring friendships with several of his idols, including Mickey Mantle and Muhammad Ali. He lends a light touch to more serious topics like religion ("the aging friends I know have turned to the Holy Trinity: Advil, bourbon, and Prozac"); grandparenting; and, of course, dentistry. As wise and poignant as they are funny, Crystal's reflections are an unforgettable look at an extraordinary life well lived.
Still Foolin' 'Em includes a portion recorded in front of a live studio audience.
Ce que les critiques en disent
“At 65, Billy Crystal is a master of comic timing, as he demonstrates during his narration of Still Foolin' ‘Em. A fine actor and nine-time Oscar host, Crystal knows exactly how to deliver his artful blend of touching memoir and rueful riffs on the indignities of aging. Several chapters were recorded before a live audience, giving him the opportunity to exchange banter and charm a crowd – as he no doubt will many listeners…In both modes, however, he proves himself accomplished, nuanced, and – best of all – very funny.” —AudioFile Magazine
"Filled with hilarious and heartfelt observations on aging, Still Foolin' 'Em, the Grammy-nominated memoir by one of America's favorite comedians, outlines the absurdities and challenges that come with growing older. This 2014 Audie Audiobook of the Year is read by Billy Crystal himself, with his trademark wit and heart." - PopSugar.com
“Billy Crystal's new memoir is everything you'd expect from this acclaimed actor, writer, producer, film director and world-class comedian. Though the book is a great read, this audio version, performed by Crystal himself, is even better. His timing is perfect, he laughs, ad-libs a little and even chokes up as he talks about how much his wife of 43 years means to him…But be careful! Listening while driving, treading on a treadmill or stirring up a stir-fry could be hazardous to life and limb – this is unredacted, laugh-out-loud humor, Billy Crystal at his bravura best.” —BookPage

Tears of Laughter and Sorrow , a Beautiful Tale!
Having lost my parents, a brother(too soon), and at least three very close friends, Billy helps me gain perspective. Having had six grandchildren and two great grandchildren, so many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews from them as well, Billy helps me gain perspective. Whether it's dealing with life, death, loving or just plain living, Billy's story touches me over and over again, bringing on tears of laughter and/or sorrow. As I struggle with my humanity, he shows me that this is simply the many faces of being alive, and that's ok. A wonderful story told by a most wonderful storyteller.

Great Story, Incredible Storyteller, Standup Sections were Meh
Awesome listen, Billy Crystal is such a fantastic storyteller and tells his life story in a way only Billy can: intimate, personal, endlessly entertaining and hilarious. Always the consummate entertainer and showman. One small thing - there is a standup set disperses throughout the audiobook, I believe they were recorded for the purpose of the audiobook, they take up about 20% of the listen…. Unfortunately the standup is pretty meh. I actually ended up skipping a couple of the routines. Other than that, great listen!

Funny and insightful, a superb memoir
The audiobook is read by Billy Crystal himself! Given the rave reviews and numerous awards won by Crystal’s memoir “Still Foolin’ ‘Em”, the bar was set quite high, especially given I had just finished Martin Short’s most excellent memoir “I Must Say”.
The first few chapters of Crystal’s memoir really caught me off guard, and not in a good way. They were excerpts of him delivering the chapters as part of a live show. Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing and hearing Crystal do standup, but I purchased an audiobook memoir, not a live show. At least I thought I did. Had I known, I would have chosen a different audiobook.
If I wanted live standup, I would have purchased a concert CD or DVD, or watched a standup special on a streaming service. At least he explains why he decided to include live standup renditions of some of the chapters, and I certainly understand his reasoning, which made the other live chapters further in the book more tolerable. But I was always happy when they were followed by regular audiobook read chapters.
Back to the memoir itself. I have always considered Billy Crystal as an incredibly talented and gifted comedian, going way back to his days on Soap and Saturday Night Live. He was an excellent impersonator, and also created timeless characters of his own! Add to that his close friendships with comic icons such as Whoopie Goldberg and Robin Williams, which led to them hosting numerous Comic Relief specials, and his acting career in such comedy classics as City Slickers, When Harry Met Sally, and Analyze This, and you must have an endless list of stories and behind-the-scenes tales of the trade.
The structure of “Still Foolin’ ‘Em” is very interesting, at times alternating between “what I’ve done” accomplishments and “here’s my take on things in life”. The insight into his kinship with Mickey Mantle is quite surprising and especially touching. It’s insights like these that make memoirs such an enjoyable read. Crystal takes us through his career, and his life, with his unique trademark delivery, sharing his highs and lows, dreams and concerns, with honesty, uncanny wit and humor.
Truly the only knock on this audiobook is the numerous live chapters. I’m sure some if not many may be thrilled by this different take on the audiobook experience, but I would have preferred those chapters just be read by Crystal like the remainder of the book. Besides that, this memoir was superb!
