Description

A moving, candid account of one woman's experience with stillbirth.

Emma Hansen is 39 weeks and six days pregnant when she feels her baby go quiet inside of her. At the hospital, her worst fears are confirmed: doctors explain that her baby has died, and she will need to deliver him, still.

Hansen gives birth to her son, Reid, amidst an avalanche of grief. Nine days later, she publishes a candid essay on her website sharing photos from the delivery room. Much to her surprise, her essay goes viral, sparking positive reactions around the world. Still shares what comes next: a struggle with grief and confusion alongside a desire to better understand stillbirth, which is experienced by more than two million women annually, but rarely talked about in public.

At once honest, brave, and uplifting, Still is about one woman's search for her own definition of motherhood, even as she faces one of life's greatest challenges: learning to live after loss.

Ce que les critiques en disent

Still is one of those rare books that catches you up and does not let you go. With grace, courage, and honesty, Emma Hansen adds an important voice to this tragic and too-often silenced subject. I loved this book.” (Beth Powning, author of Shadow Child: An Apprenticeship in Love and Loss)

interesting memoir

This was a powerful book as it delves into a world very few talk about and I commend the author for her willingness to be vulnerable. However, as a person who shares some similar experiences, it was tough to listen to at times. Despite trying to make this represtative of many, I found this memoir represented an experience very few have access to (ie so many doctors and specialists). I also think a different narrator would've been better as often the narrator was monotone and made it easy to tune out.

Beautiful, raw and tender

I started following Emma on Instagram during her 1st pregnancy and have continued to support her from afar. Beluga Baby Reid and Rett baby wrap - check it out. She helped develop a special rainbow wrap to honor babies taken too soon and the bundles that follow

Very powerful story of grief.

This story is very transparent, but in an educational way. While it was painful to hear, there was nothing too graphic.
Highly recommended for learning about what happens regarding stillbirth. To a Momma's heart. It helps to know these things when sitting with loved ones in their brokenness.
