Publisher's Summary

The selection began with 35 girls. Now, with the group narrowed down to the Elite, the competition to win Prince Maxon's love is fiercer than ever. The closer America gets to the crown, the more she struggles to figure out where her heart truly lies. Each moment she spends with Maxon is like a fairy tale, filled with breathless, glittering romance. But whenever she sees her first love, Aspen, standing guard, she's swept up in longing for the life they'd planned to share.

America is desperate for more time. But while she's torn between her two futures, the rest of the Elite know exactly what they want - and America's chance to choose is about to slip away.

So much back n forth with the boys

I'm hooked into the world and story but at the same time this book got very annoying with how quickly America would swap her feeling about Aspen and The Prince.

I swear every chapter was 'oh he's the only option for me how could I have ever thought differently' to literal pages later in the other mans arms 'oh I was so wrong he's the one!" again and again. I almost gave up on her maturity.

I hope in the next book, this love triangle is O. V. E. R. My head is still spinning. But I do love the rest of it!

Exceptional romance

Very good story. We’ll written, we’ll read. I don’t usually care for romance novels but this one has depth and a strong story with well crafted character arcs. Highly recommend.

Whiplash

It felt like I was getting whiplash the whole story from her loving Maxon (and then not caring) to loving Aspen and back again. Plot seems to be lacking, and the story seems to be very jumbled overall.

It was okay!

The elite was an okay book. The story seems to be progressing at a very slow rate and not much seemed to happen.
America’s character grew increasingly whinny and problematic with her never ending love triangle and I got whiplash with how quick she jumped back and fourth.
The performance was well done and remained clear when listening e at X2 + speed which is something I appreciate.

Not sure what the point of book 2 was?

I mean I liked that it went into some of the backstory that book 1 didn’t, but I was quite disappointed that little to nothing happened.
Makes me wonder if #3 will be as equally frustrating.

It's alright

Things kinda lost a little bit of luster since the first book somehow
The story has potential, but the writing & messages have fallen short. However the narrators performance is wonderful

overkill and just annoying

such a struggle to finish. it was literally 7 hours that could have been completed in 1 hour. America cried non stop, whined every few minutes, and just back and forth playing both guys. Hypocritical, rude and mean to say the least of her character in this book. How can the Prince still want someone so cold and whiny the entire time without giving any indication that's she's still fun, warm and easy going?!
