Publisher's Summary

The internationally best-selling fantasy sensation is back with brand-new stories set in the world of Eragon and the Inheritance Cycle!

A wanderer and a cursed child. Spells and magic. And dragons, of course. Welcome back to the world of Alagaësia.

It's been a year since Eragon departed Alagaësia in search of the perfect home to train a new generation of Dragon Riders. Now, he is struggling with an endless sea of tasks: constructing a vast dragonhold, wrangling with suppliers, guarding dragon eggs, and dealing with belligerent Urgals and haughty elves. Then a vision from the Eldunarí, unexpected visitors, and an exciting Urgal legend offer a much-needed distraction and a new perspective.

This volume features three original stories set in Alagaësia, interspersed with scenes from Eragon's own unfolding adventure. Included is an excerpt from the memoir of the unforgettable witch and fortune-teller Angela the herbalist...penned by Angela Paolini, the inspiration for the character herself!

Relish the incomparable imagination of Christopher Paolini in this thrilling new collection of stories based in the world of the Inheritance Cycle.

Christopher Paolini does it again

Another amazing Paolini work. It leaves you still wanting more from his world. He has mastered the dragon rider epic and now going on to a new part of the story I cant wait to see what comes. The narrator Gerard Doyle is truly the best voice and gives life to the characters in a way nobody else could. Highly recommend.

Okay?

I really really looked forward to seeing more of Murtagh and Angela the herbalist. My heart was sooo happy in the forks section, and since I first heard it I was expecting more of him. Especially since he seemed to be on his own journey, I would specifically like to see a book where it’s just Murtagh, especially since both romances in the previous books were tossed away like no big deal. :’) His character leaves me wanted to learn more about him, and more about thorn. I also expected to learn more about who Angela is, who is she really? Instead it was just a cruel taste of the very top of her life. The last section of the book I didn’t find interesting at all, due to the fact that the story that was being told was like an hour or so long and since it was a story, nothing was actually being accomplished. I skipped most of it, it just felt counter productive to listen to. However if you like the Urgals, then perhaps you’d enjoy the long story they told more then I did.

Did I forget to mention? We need more Murtagh!!

Also the voice actor changed the voices of the dragons a bit, and because I was use to it, it kind of threw me off, but it wasn’t as harsh as the last 5 books so it was nice.

Not what I was hoping for

This as a good story. However, it's nothing close to what I was expecting.

Gerard Doyle was great as always.

The story itself started great. I enjoyed the "Fork" story, although it was very short. It just wasn't the follow up I had been waiting quite some time for.

Just a taste, but still good.

I enjoyed this little taste of Alagesia. A couple notes: to Gerard - although your interpretation of Sapphira's voice initially threw me off a little, I had come to appreciate it over the Inheritance Cycle books. I noticed in this narration you changed her voice. Please keep it the way it was, as that voice is now HER, and I want HER back!!
To Christopher - I'm glad you feel successful about a shorter book. Personally, I really appreciate your longer tales - I love a good, long book that I can really sink into. So please, bring on the 500+ pages! Thanks!

Not what I I expected

While i did enjoy some of the short stories, i found myself in want of more. I expected more, which is a fault of my own. It’s exceedingly apparent this is a side project, which was great to delve in to, but i wish there was more substance. This book is a great way to satiate your appetite until Murtagh comes out, but taper your expectations.

Does not measure up

It appears that this book is just a grab for money. It certainly does not compare to the other books in the series.
