Publisher's Summary

One of the 20th century's most challenging novels of ideas, The Fountainhead champions the cause of individualism through the story of a gifted young architect who defies the tyranny of conventional public opinion. The struggle for personal integrity in a world that values conformity above creativity is powerfully illustrated through three characters: Howard Roarke, the genius who is resented because he creates purely for the delight of his own work and on no other terms; Gail Wynand, the newspaper mogul and self-made millionaire whose power was bought by sacrificing his ideals to the lowest common denominator of public taste; and Dominique Francon, the devastating beauty whose desperate search for meaning has been twisted, through despair, into a quest to destroy the single object of her desire: Howard Roarke. Dramatic, poetic, and demanding, The Fountainhead remains one of the towering books on the contemporary intellectual scene.

What the critics say

"Ayn Rand is a writer of great power. She has a subtle and ingenious mind and the capacity of writing brilliantly, beautifully, bitterly." ( New York Times Book Review)

A Must Read

I listened to Fountainhead with my wife on a road trip and got her hooked. Amazing book. Very thought provoking. We often stopped the book, discussed situations, rewinded, listen again and talked some more. Beautiful writing style, amazing storyline. My kids are now reading Ayn Rand too and I just finshed my 5th book of her. She analysed and wrote about our current social and economic problems over 70 years ago. One of a kind.
Ayn Rand is in a class of herself.

Ayn Rand at her best.

A book not to be read by the feint of heart. Ayn Rand is truly an individualist.

longest story ever, but worth it

I really liked this story, it was quite long but worth to understand the meaning behind the characters. Once in a while the voice actor however mix character tones but it was still manageable to connect who was speaking.

Triumph of the individual

Ayn Rand at her triumphant best, particularly poignant in the face of the woke oppression of our day...

World Changing

This book is too real to be a fiction, yet it is one of the best fictions I have read in my life. My next book will certainly be another by Ayn Rand.

Incredible novel read well

While there are some blips and a few small audio issues, this is an incredible story and the narrator does a wonderful job. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

Interesting seen through the lens of today

There are too many parallels with society today and the eerie warning of mediocrity subjugating greatness.
