Description

One of the 20th century's most challenging novels of ideas, The Fountainhead champions the cause of individualism through the story of a gifted young architect who defies the tyranny of conventional public opinion. The struggle for personal integrity in a world that values conformity above creativity is powerfully illustrated through three characters: Howard Roarke, the genius who is resented because he creates purely for the delight of his own work and on no other terms; Gail Wynand, the newspaper mogul and self-made millionaire whose power was bought by sacrificing his ideals to the lowest common denominator of public taste; and Dominique Francon, the devastating beauty whose desperate search for meaning has been twisted, through despair, into a quest to destroy the single object of her desire: Howard Roarke. Dramatic, poetic, and demanding, The Fountainhead remains one of the towering books on the contemporary intellectual scene.

An amazing book

Ayn rand is an excellent writer, the reader or rather the listener can effortlessly imagine the world she has created. If by chance you already have an opinion on the book, you should give it a try.

Amazing

I saved several chapters as I have been inspired in many areas such as the courtroom speech by Howard Roark. The reading was clear and very engaging. Fully recommended!

World Changing

This book is too real to be a fiction, yet it is one of the best fictions I have read in my life. My next book will certainly be another by Ayn Rand.

Beautiful. Worth every minute of your time!

The story is disgusting, immoral, outrageous, gross, realistic, incredibly detailed, well written, very well told, sad, beautiful, interesting, and unfortunately very life like.
It is a VERY long book, Tho I think I had it finished in 5 days... I couldn’t put it down. Written some 70 years ago, and it’s sad to me that it could’ve been written last year or any year. The politics are the same then as they are now, it just louder now.
The main character Howard never sells himself short, and is a genuine man of his word. And the sultry Dominque is most of the time a distorted mirror reflection, of him. All of the characters portrayed are likely in your life, in your circle. That’s what’s sad and gross about the story. The world needs more Howard Roarks, and far less of all the useless chaff.
Well written, well worth listening too.

Atheistic satanism for the perceived greater good

I honestly love the story of Howard Rourke, and the narrator is fantastic! Whatever your beliefs, this book provides for good thinking matter.

Triumph of the individual

Ayn Rand at her triumphant best, particularly poignant in the face of the woke oppression of our day...

Enjoyable Listen

Narrator did a great job.
Whether or not you agree or disagree with Rand's position...there are many lessons and things to use as a source of inspiration.

Thought provoking

The characters felt real, the ideology is well developed, interesting, thought provoking and fascinating. Worth a read. Was recommended by Michael Caine which I’m grateful for.

It is quite good

The book was more subtle than I imagined. It is well written, and well narrated too. It is quite a page turner, and I found myself finishing it quite quickly. I think it would have more influence the younger you are when you read it, but it is still a good introduction to a set to ideas that are not commonly held today. I think the book would be most interesting to a young adult deciding which career path they should like to take, or what lane of education they want to commit to. It helps show the different paths one can take and where they lead you across the long run.
