In 1984, Detective Eric O'Malley investigated the bizarre deaths of a young couple, their bodies found naked by the side of a creek in Sydney's northern suburbs. Shortly before their demise, O'Malley learned, the pair had attended a swingers' party.
The case was barely open before it was deemed an accident. But O'Malley knew it was murder. He just couldn't prove it.
Thirty-five years later, O'Malley is found dead in his flat in what looks like a drug overdose. But his son James knows something's amiss. His dad was close to solving that case after all these years. And someone else knew it.
To track down his father's killer, James must find the men and women who were there on the fateful night when that young couple died. This was the night of 'The Goodbye Party' - and uncovering its secrets will lead James down a dark path, filled with horrific twists and turns.

Entertaining story
Really impressive production quality and great actors playing the parts. I love anything with Aaron Pederson!
The story was interesting enough to keep me engaged but not what I’d consider top shelf. A bit simplistic in parts but overall still a good listen.

A fun listen overall
Enjoyable story, really liked the interesting cast of characters and the main character. The conclusion of the story was a little unsatisfying but overall a good listen.
I have to agree with other reviewers about the character of Lily at the end. Just awful acting! At least she only appeared briefly at the end.
Overall, worth a listen and a fun mystery to follow.

excellent - kept me guessing!

Sitting on the edge of my seat!
I wasn't sure what to expect because I had never heard of the author before. I am very glad that I took a chance to listen to this one. What a story! I was sitting on the edge of my seat listening to this! Everything about this production from the music to the voice cast of characters to the storyline itself all meshed together to create something brilliant! I had a hard time pausing my listening to get on with my day. Very glad I took that chance. I know I will listen to this one again and again.

Good story but background noise on recording was distracting
Did not enjoy the split chapters and having to stop listening to restart the book. Lost the flow. What was that persistent background noise. Squeaking and squealing recording equipment?
