When Dr. Louis Creed takes a new job and moves his family to the idyllic, rural town of Ludlow, Maine, this new beginning seems too good to be true. Story
Leland Gaunt opens a new shop in Castle Rock called Needful Things. Anyone who enters his store finds the object of his or her lifelong dreams and desires: a prized baseball card, a healing amulet. In addition to a token payment, Gaunt requests that each person perform a little "deed", usually a seemingly innocent prank played on someone else from town. These practical jokes cascade out of control, and soon the entire town is doing battle with itself. Only Sheriff Alan Pangborn suspects that Gaunt is behind the population's increasingly violent behavior.

On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

Story
On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

Exceptional!
Absolutely loved everything about this experience. I honoured the original publication schedule by listening to one part per week, and I'm glad I did, because it resulted in a surprisingly different read than a regular, non-serial novel. It was more fulfilling to read it the way it was intended and I felt more in tune with the original experience. The Green Mile is emotional and touching and beautiful; I cried at times, and I'm not much of a crier. It was also horrifying, funny, macabre, frightening, infuriating, and seemingly every other emotion. I don't think I've loathed a character as much as I hated Percy, and Coffey is such a beautiful, unique, innocent character. Frank Muller had kind of an old-timey delivery, and it was perfect. Nice voice, riveting narration. Not only one of King's best works, but one of the best books ever, period.

My first ever Stephen king book!!
This was my first time EVER reading/listening to anything by Stephen King. I had started reading it on my kindle first, but found that it was too slow and I kept getting distracted so I abandoned it for a while. I just recently decided to try the audiobook and BAYBEEEY I was NOT disappointed! First of all Frank Muller gave a PERFORMANCE YOU HEAR ME!! 🗣️🗣️🗣️ From the cadence and baritone of his voice, to how he gave each character their own sound and brought them to life! I was never confused about who was speaking. Now on to you Stephen… you motherfucker. The way this man goes into DETAIL about all the characters is what made me quit reading in my kindle, but listening to the audiobook oh boy was it WORTH it! I was HOOKED. The suspense was killing me and it felt like listening to a really good true crime podcast that has all the episodes out. 😭😭😭 JUSTICE FOR JOHN COFFEY DAMNIT! Mr. King, YOU’VE GOT A FAN IN ME 🙌🏾🙌🏾

this was not my favorite Steven king novel, that goes to pet cemetery. despite that this book made me emotional, to the point of having to fight back tears, I don't really think of myself as emotional, particularly over fiction, but this was hard to listen to at the end, it was everything I hoped it was and more

Another masterpiece from King and Muller
I loved the setting. The perspective from Paul was superb. Nobody writes characters quite like the King. Amazing book.
Muller once again absolutely nails the narration. Now, when I read my King books, I sometimes accidentally read them in Muller's voice!
