For the first time ever, the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society has produced an audio recording of all of Lovecraft's stories. These are not dramatizations like our Dark Adventure Radio Theatre - rather, this is an audiobook of the original stories, in all-new, never-before-heard recordings made by the HPLHS' own Andrew Leman and Sean Branney exclusively for this collection. This collection spans his entire career from his earliest surviving works of childhood to stories completed shortly before his death. All tales include original music by HPLHS composer Troy Sterling Nies.

His fiction is known to be some of the most terrifying in the genre of supernatural horror, but Thomas Ligotti's first nonfiction book may be even scarier. Drawing on philosophy, literature, neuroscience, and other fields of study, Ligotti takes the penetrating lens of his imagination and turns it on his audience, causing them to grapple with the brutal reality that they are living a meaningless nightmare, and anyone who feels otherwise is simply acting out an optimistic fallacy.

Paradise Lost, along with its companion piece, Paradise Regained, remain the most successful attempts at Greco-Roman style epic poetry in the English language. Remarkably enough, they were written near the end of John Milton's amazing life, a bold testimonial to his mental powers in old age. And, since he had gone completely blind in 1652, 15 years prior to Paradise Lost, he dictated it and all his other works to his daughter.

S.T., a domesticated crow, is a bird of simple pleasures: hanging out with his owner Big Jim, trading insults with Seattle's wild crows (i.e. "those idiots"), and enjoying the finest food humankind has to offer: Cheetos®. Then Big Jim's eyeball falls out of his head, and S.T. starts to think something isn't quite right. Even the slobbering affection of Big Jim's loyal but dim-witted dog, Dennis, fails to cure Big Jim's debilitating malady. S.T. is left with no choice but to abandon his old life and venture out into a wild and frightening new world with his trusty steed Dennis.

Description
Originally published in 1895, Robert W. Chambers' The King in Yellow is a marvel of supernatural fiction that has influenced a number of writers in the genre, most notably H. P. Lovecraft. Its powerful combination of horror and lyrical prose has made it a classic, a masterpiece of weird fiction that endures to this day.
There is a book that is shrouded in mystery. Some even say it's a myth. Within its pages is a play - one that brings madness and despair to all who read it. It is the play of the King in Yellow, and it will haunt you for the rest of your days.
The King in Yellow is a collection of stories interwoven loosely by the elements of the play, including the central figure himself.

Not what I'd thought it'd be
It's a little overhyped. Starts with a spooky idea then abandons it half way through for romance stories.

Mix of Great and Okay Short Stories
The narration in this audiobook is great! I wish this book were called “The King in Yellow, and other Short Stories” as some of these stories do not add to the King in Yellow narrative at all. All of the stories involving the King in Yellow narrative (mostly in the first half) are well written and engaging. The other stories also are engaging, but some of them just don’t go anywhere or have so much in common with other stories in this book that they get boring. Overall a interesting collection of stories.

Incredible
I went in expecting a Lovecraftian type experience though it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for I still found the stories interesting and I could never tell what would happen next I can definitely see how Robert W. Chambers inspired Lovecraft’s works.

Predates Lovecraft, Unique Experience
Context is king when trying to embrace the impeccable quality of this book with superior narration. It predates Lovecraft and inspired him, so do not go in expecting a "Lovecraftian" experience. Enter with a clear mind and you will understand why this book inspired cosmic horror writers, lest the black stars rise.
Chambers was more than a simple horror writer, and those who say the later, more romantic stories do not have an impact as the earlier ones, miss the larger picture.
