Publisher's Summary

A body has been found on the overlook near Mulholland Drive. The victim, identified as Dr. Stanley Kent, has two bullet holes in the back of his head, from what looks like an execution-style shooting. LAPD detective Harry Bosch is called out to investigate.

As soon as Bosch begins retracing Dr. Kent's steps, contradictions emerge. While Kent doesn't seem to have had ties to organized crime, he did have access to dangerous radioactive substances from just about every hospital in Los Angeles County. What begins as a routine homicide investigation opens up before Bosch into something much larger, more dangerous - and much more urgent.

Super

Radioactive cesium, loose in Los Angeles!!

This book feels like a bit of a departure for Connelly, but it really isn't. It starts off with the murder of a doctor who has access to radioactive cesium for medical use. It seems he was blackmailed into obtaining the cesium in order to free his wife being held hostage at their home. But who wants the cesium and what do they plan to do with it?

This story was short and fast. Excellent pacing which added to the frantic feel. Harry Bosch is in his element and (sigh) Rachel Walling is back because radioactive substances are a federal concern, I guess. But they aren't together in this book so it works. I guess I like Harry single and focused on his work, haha!

Excellent story. Fast and furious ending. Great narration by Len Cariou. I loved it.

Painful

Interesting enough story but the narrator is painful to listen to when he "performs" women's voices especially an interview with a witness.
