Anastasia “Nastya” Romanov was given a single mission: to smuggle an ancient spell into her suitcase on her way to exile in Siberia. It might be her family’s only salvation. But the leader of the Bolshevik army is after them, and he’s hunted Romanov before. Nastya’s only chances of saving herself and her family are either to release the spell and deal with the consequences, or to enlist help from Zash, a handsome soldier who doesn’t act like the average Bolshevik. Nastya has only dabbled in magic, but it doesn’t frighten her half as much as her growing attraction to Zash.

Description
The first time I fell in love with Princess Mele was when I saw her smile, and I fell in love with her the second time the moment I heard her sing.
Two memories burn within Kaipo's heart - the death of his mother, which left him alone to die, and the arrival of Princess Mele, which gave him a new reason to live. Together with his adopted brother, Kaipo seeks out Jaya, the Fae Queen who lives on the Forbidden Mountain, in order to gain the beauty he requires to win Mele's heart. But Jaya has other plans for the scarred outcast who climbs up her mountain...
The Princess and the Peacock is the first in Birds of Fae, a fantasy fairy tale novella series from C. S. Johnson.

The Value of Forgiveness, Compassion, and Beauty
An original fairy tale, with a slight nod to Beauty and the Beast, reminds us that beauty is found within. This was a lovely story, told primarily about three characters. While that may sound simplistic, it actually made it much easier to get to know these characters as well as the backstories of each of them. Kaipo - the narrator of the story. An orphan and an outcast. He has long loved the princess Mele, but due to an accident that left his face scarred feels unworthy of her great beauty. So he sets off on a quest to find the Fae Queen who may grant his wish to be made beautiful, although what she grants him may not turn out as he expected. Rahj - Kaipo's adopted brother. Also an orphan. Loved by Kaiyo's father, but never Kaiyo or his mother, Rahj only wants to be part of the family. After the death of both parents, he and Kaiyo grow closer and he helps Kaiyo on his quest. Rahj is truly kind. Although he makes mistakes, he never wants to hurt his brother. Mele - the princess. Of age to be married and bored to death with suitors who are only beautiful while lacking other redeeming qualities. Due to unusual circumstances, she ends up offering her protection to both Kaiyo and Rahj who learn that her kindness and compassion are even greater than her beauty. The fairy tale reminds us of the importance of forgiveness, compassion, and above all, the beauty that is found within. I received a free copy of the audiobook from the author and have reviewed it willingly. The narrator did an amazing job voicing the story and brought all of the characters to life.

Fairy Tale for all ages with a great message.
Another beautiful story from C. S. Johnson. I recommend the audiobook to basically anyone, but especially if you ever loved fairy tales. Even if you are not a fan of fairy tales I still recommend you try it, it is that good. The story was clean and uplifting to where you felt good after listening to it. There is also an important message/lesson about beauty here you should think about afterwards.

Cute Romance Fairy tale/Fantasy
Another really fun and clean Fantasy Romance from C.S. Johnson. It really had a fairy tale feel to it. This was a short one being under three hours it felt like watching a movie, which I loved. It is definitely a romance so as long as that is one of your genres then you'll love this book. The narrator did a great job and was really fun to listen to with his deep voice. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Quick and enjoyable fairy tale
I'm always a sucker for a good fairy tale, and this didn't disappoint! I was a little offput by the narrators deep voice at the beginning, but as I listened I grew accustomed to it and really appreciated that he was able to give voice to the other characters. I listened to this in one sitting and am truly looking forward to the next in the series!

Love it
I enjoyed listening to this story, but I had previously read it. The narrator had a nice deep voice which helped to get into character of Kaipo. It's a short sweet fairy tale. A great story with a message that everyone can learn from. Beauty is not always just on the outside, but what we have on the inside, it's who we are as a person.

It’s not you but it me.
This is going to be one of those reviews. It’s not you but it me. The narrator was on point, he was really good, the story and the concept were great too. But the dreaded but, it really wasn’t for me. I am not a huge fan of romance and this was romance from the get-go. Why read a romance then you idiot? Well, I like to give stories a chance and I like to get out of my comfort zone. So yeah sorry, just wasn’t for me.

Audible books are so much fun. This story has a great message about accepting ourselves with our flaws & imperfections that we can’t change. I continue to be amazed at Ms. Johnson’s ability to write so many different books. Great job! She gave me a free copy to listen to.

ANOTHER GREAT BOOK BY ONE OF MY FAVORITE AUTHORS. AN INTERESTING AND INTRINSIC TWIST ON A FAIRYTALE. WITH INCLUDING THE BASIS OF ANOTHER MYSTIC CULTURE THE WRITER ALSO INTERTWINES THE DEATH OF HUMAN EMOTION SORROW LOVE JOY AND GRIEF ALIKE. ALL THIS IN TURTLE WHINING HISTORY WITH FAITH. I ALSO CONNECT WITH HER AND THE PEOPLE IN THE STORY ON A VERY DEEP LEVEL. STORY WAS WELL-WRITTEN AND IS ACCEPTABLE FOR PEOPLE OF ALL AGES. NARRATOR WAS ALSO GOOD AND EASY TO FOLLOW
