The Legend of Wolfgar

this book almost entirely revolves around Wolfgar which isn't a problem, it's actually a nice change in pace. The issue I had with this book is the extremely slow pace and jumping between multiple perspectives so often (something not done to this extent in the series). I also felt this book was more about realistic "Depression & Drunkenness" than the fantasy "Dungeon & Dragons" I expect and was hoping for. it was only in the last few chapters things picked up and had an amazing unpredictable conclusion and sets the character up for a better sequel for the series if he gets another book. Would recommend the read for the conclusion alone and if you plan on reading the entire series. could also skip as the author does recap a lot of the past in many of the books.

good books.

My only complaints about these books is the narrator frequently mispronounced words, like waistcoat, bade and lived, or referring to characters by the wrong race, like calling a dwarf an elf.

Also want to point put to those who have made the comments about this not being about Drizzt. Despite the series now being called the Legend of Drizzt, it originally wasn't and this book was part of a quartet (The paths of Darkness) that included Servants of the shard, which is now part of the sell swords trilogy. The events in this book come to play in later books, so it's still worth the read.

Great job from Victor Bevine, story wasn't good.

Solid and well done performance as usual from Victor Bevine. However this side story was not near as interesting as the other novels in the "Legend of Drizzt" series. So far the worst one I've listened to. Mostly due to the fact I found it boring in comparison to the other books preceding this one.

A bump in the line of a great series

I remember reading the Drizzt series when I was younger, working the night shift and I fell in love with Drizzt and the cast. However I also dreadfully remember reading this story... the last one I've read until deciding to try Audible and delving again in this epic saga.

This title was the one that made the Drizzt fervor leave my mind. I thought it was bad, boring and I never felt the urge of reading the following story (Sea of Swords) and continue the saga (At that time The Lone Drow was the latest book of the series).

Today after listening to every first 11 books and finally coming back to this title, I must say... It didn't change a single bit. Half the novel is Wulgar whinning and acting like an Triple-A Jerk with capital "J". I conceed he has reasons to be winning with what he suffered through, however it's just goes way too far. The other half of the novel is around a new cast of characters which will never be heard of again, or barely mentionned, and to make it worst they are part of the Forgotten Realms "cheesy done and done again romantic unoriginal lovy dovy musical troops".

There is one absolute saving grace in this book which was not part of my first paperback experience with that story. Victor Bevine. This simple name is THE reason I would listen at this title to persue the continuity of the Drizzt storyline and this time I will follow with Book 13 and so on. Victor Bevine performance, as with previous books, is utterly flawless.

Sadly this title has been a bump in R.A. Salvatore epic series but it does not decrease the pleasure I had to relive the previous titles and looking forward to next titles of the series.

Worst by far of all the Drizzt books

Terrible side story which weakened the overall allure of these books. Salvatore is aloud a miss...

Not an epic action fantasy like usual

Got to admit. This one confused me. Definitely not an action packed fantasy like all the others. More like a.. Long drawn out Wolfgar side quest? With a touch of random romantic side plot with no recognizable characters.

The story was well written, but felt very much like a complete other series. Maybe necessary for the next book?

Victor Bevine was brilliant as usual though.

Legend of Wulfgar

The story itself wasn't that bad but it didn't involve Drizzt at all. I spent half the book wondering why they spent so much time on some random girl. I would have skipped this book had I looked into the story a bit more.
