Publisher's Summary
Beth and Cath are leaving their husbands.
This is a story about two very different women.
One is wealthy and having an affair with a man who gives her the kind of love that her cold, detached husband does not.
One is living hand to mouth, suffering at the hands of a violent partner who would rather see her dead than leave him.
You may think you know these women already and how their lives will unfold.
Beth will live happily ever after with her little girl and her soulmate.
Cath will go back to her abusive husband.
And these two women will never cross paths.
But you will be wrong.
On the 3.15pm train from London to Bristol, Beth and Cath are about to meet and discover they share one shocking thing in common.
A clever, engrossing and absolutely enthralling listen about what really lies beneath the surface of a marriage. Fans of Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train will be hooked on The Stranger’s Wife.

Great story, great voice
The narrator is perfectly cast for this riveting story. Sensitive, well paced and interesting, the author delivers an experience of an empathetic investigator, a perspective I that I hope truly exists.

Somewhat Klunky Relationship Exposition
This book reaches for Mystery/Psychological Thriller status
..but falls juuust short.
The narrative follows two fairly clichéd relationship situations: 'Beth' in a loveless marriage.. complete with rampant infidelity & "use the child" divorce machinations; and 'Cath'.. in a textbook abusive relationship with a douchebag boyfriend. Anna Lou-Weatherly writes well-enough.. exploring those situations with a modicum of originality - but resorting to tried and true plot devices to describe the events (addictions, dishonesty, hidden motives, etc.). The story evolves into more and more sordid circumstances, multiple murders, and exposed underground sex rings.. but the characters pretty much react exactly as expected. 'The Stranger's Wife' is clearly not Weatherley's best effort.
James Lailey turns in a subpar performance on this one, too. His diction, timbre, and voice-acting are typically spot-on.. but his cadence is strikingly staccato for some reason. Lailey easily falls into an awkward rhythm.
I was offered this book as a Daily Deal, and it was a reasonable purchase for the $5.24CDN I paid for it. When it showed up as part of the 'Plus' initiative, I felt somewhat ripped off. Oh, well.
This book merits 5.5 stars out of 10 - and it's not a crazy way to spend a couple of quiet afternoons if you can get it as an included selection. If Audible asks for a Credit, however, better options beckon.

Ms. Weatherley writes a very good story. The second book I have listened to and enjoyed very much. Look forward to listening to next installment.

Fabulous!
I absolutely loved this book! This is the third in this series that I have read, and they just keep getting better and better. I highly recommend this entire series to anyone who loves a good detective drama. The narrator is fantastic, the story has so many twists and turns, and the characters are very well written.

Twisty and turny
A fun ride. It was a great book. I figured out the basic plot but that didn’t change how good the book is. Definitely worth a listen

WOW!
WOW! Book 3 of the Detective Dan Riley Series, The Stranger's Wife, written by Anna-Lou Weatherley, is just a fantastic novel of a psychological murder mystery! The narration, by James Lailey, is stupendous! His accents are spot on, and his emoting is perfect. I highly recommend this series! Well done! What a combo, Ms. Weatherley and Mr. Lailey!
