Publisher's Summary

"Daisy Edgar-Jones and Alison Steadman team up as a fun, quirky grandmother and granddaughter pair in this lively narration...The two narrators, each portraying her respective character's point of view, are a perfect match." (AudioFile Magazine)

This program is read by British actors Alison Steadman and Daisy Edgar-Jones, star of Hulu's Normal People.

A grandmother and granddaughter swap lives in The Switch, a charming, romantic novel by Beth O’Leary, who has been hailed as "the new Jojo Moyes" (Cosmopolitan UK)....

When overachiever Leena Cotton is ordered to take a two-month sabbatical after blowing a big presentation at work, she escapes to her grandmother Eileen's house for some long-overdue rest.

Eileen is newly single and about to turn 80. She'd like a second chance at love, but her tiny Yorkshire village doesn't offer many eligible gentlemen.

So they decide to try a two-month swap.

Eileen will live in London and look for love. She’ll take Leena’s flat, and learn all about casual dating, swiping right, and city neighbors. Meanwhile, Leena will look after everything in rural Yorkshire: Eileen’s sweet cottage and garden, her idyllic, quiet village, and her little neighborhood projects.

But stepping into one another's shoes proves more difficult than either of them expected. Will swapping lives help Eileen and Leena find themselves...and maybe even find true love? In Beth O'Leary's The Switch, it's never too late to change everything...or to find yourself.

The narration was excrutiating

I couldn't even get through the entire book; I couldn't focus past Eileen's narrator licking, swallowing and smacking of her tongue. I physically could not stand it any longer and had to end the book the early.

not the best narration imo

I liked the story well enough but found the narrating horrible. The sound of licking lips and dry mouths was distracting.

One of my all time FAVORITES

Such an unusual premise. Funny quirky but believable characters. Great story line and enough characters to keep your mind active but not so overwhelming that you get confused.

5 Star Narrators!

Alison Steadman and Daisy Edgar-Jones knock this beautiful Beth O’Leary story out of the park. Couldn’t listen to it fast enough!

Narrator, oh my

It’s true, the one narrator smacks so much it’s ruining the story. I had to turn up the speed to try and eliminate. Almost makes me want to quit reading it.

Great story. Terrible narrators

This was a great story. Great characters, fun storyline, uplifting and a good, happy read.
The narrators were not good. The older character desperately needed a sip of water. It was so hard to listen to that I ended up buying the book to finish reading it on my own. I just couldn’t listen to the dry mouth any longer. Too bad because it’s a lovely book.

MOUTH NOISES

Couldn’t get past chapter 5, the mouth noises from the narrator for Eileen were so gross. Couldn’t stand it even though I really liked the story so far…

Lighthearted and sweet but

I really enjoy Beth O'Leary's books. They have interesting storylines without being fluffy. The relationships and characters were fun in this. I just struggled with the mouth noises of the woman narrating grandma. There was a lot of smacky, sloppy sounds that were difficult to take. She needed to step back from the mic. If you like asmr, it's for you. :)

Super cute

I didn't find the readers' to have loud mouth noises as mentioned in other reviews, though I listen while doing other things, so maybe that makes a difference. I enjoyed the 2 readers very much and this was a lovely book.
