Publisher's Summary

Six-time New York Times best-selling author, FOX News star, and radio host Mark R. Levin “trounces the news media” (The Washington Times) in this timely and groundbreaking book demonstrating how the great tradition of American free press has degenerated into a standardless profession that has squandered the faith and trust of the public.

Unfreedom of the Press is not just another book about the press. In “Levin’s finest work” (Breitbart), he shows how those entrusted with news reporting today are destroying freedom of the press from within - not through actions of government officials, but with its own abandonment of reportorial integrity and objective journalism.

With the depth of historical background for which his books are renowned, Levin takes you on a journey through the early American patriot press, which proudly promoted the principles set forth in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. This is followed by the early decades of the Republic during which newspapers around the young country were open and transparent about their fierce allegiance to one political party or another.

It was only at the start of the Progressive Era and the 20th century that the supposed “objectivity of the press” first surfaced, leaving us where we are today: with a partisan party-press overwhelmingly aligned with a political ideology but hypocritically engaged in a massive untruth as to its real nature.

The great one...

...writes another amazing book. This book should be required reading for anyone that wants to do critical thinking and properly distill the information you are consuming during the 2020 election cycle. Sadly it is going to be nasty. Prepare yourself to see through the lies and help educate people towards enlightenment and 4 MORE YEARS.

Terrific overview of the history of press bias

When living day to day in the political environment, I don't really have a sense of the big picture. I see what journalism and the media put out, and I recognize that it is highly biased. But I don't see it within the context of the full history of how journalism has been USED to shape opinion and politics. Levin masterfully lays out the history, with the relevant influences, issues, and context within which journalism was used. He shows the impact of journalistic bias. This is powerful information, considering the issues currently facing America and the world. Media and the press are currently more blatantly than ever manipulating public opinion. Excellent book.

A great lesson in the history of the Press!

I've been listening to Mark Levin for the last two years and I think the book is just an extension of a great teacher and show host. Mr. Levin is an authority on the book he writes and I find this book is easy to read and full of amazing facts about what the press used to be, what it is today, and how its veered off course of what it should be. Great book!!!
