In July 2004, Barack Obama electrified the Democratic National Convention with an address that spoke to Americans across the political spectrum. Now, in The Audacity of Hope, Senator Obama calls for a different brand of politics: a politics for those weary of bitter partisanship and alienated by the "endless clash of armies" we see in Congress and on the campaign trail; a politics rooted in the faith, inclusiveness, and nobility of spirit at the heart of "our improbable experiment in democracy".

There may be no tidy solutions or pithy answers to life’s big challenges, but Michelle Obama believes that we can all locate and lean on a set of tools to help us better navigate change and remain steady within flux. In The Light We Carry, she opens a frank and honest dialogue with readers, considering the questions many of us wrestle with: How do we build enduring and honest relationships? How can we discover strength and community inside our differences? What tools do we use to address feelings of self-doubt or helplessness? What do we do when it all starts to feel like too much?

In this lyrical, unsentimental, and compelling memoir, the son of a Black African father and a White American mother searches for a workable meaning to his life as a Black American. It begins in New York, where Barack Obama learns that his father - a figure he knows more as a myth than as a man - has been killed in a car accident. This sudden death inspires an emotional odyssey - first to a small town in Kansas, from which he retraces the migration of his mother’s family to Hawaii, and then to Kenya, where he meets the African side of his family.

Rick Mercer can always be relied on to provoke a strong reaction - but what he said one fall day in 2017 truly shocked Canada. In a rant posted on social media, the great Canadian satirist announced loud and clear that the 15th season of the Rick Mercer Report - the nation's best-watched and best-loved comedy show - would be the last. This volume brings together never-before-published rants from the last five seasons of the show, plus a selection of the very best rants from earlier years.

A fast-paced, rollicking account of how the GOP since the 1950s has constantly encouraged and exploited extremism and paranoia to gain power, AMERICAN PSYCHOSIS offers listeners a brisk can-you-believe-it journey through the netherworld of far-right irrationality and the Republican Party’s interactions with the darkest forces of America—which culminated in Donald Trump’s triumph. It tells the hidden history of how the Party of Lincoln forged alliances with extremists, kooks, racists, and conspiracy-mongers and fueled fear, anger, and resentment to win elections.

Description
2018 Audie Award Finalist for Autobiography/Memoir and Excellence in Marketing
"In the past, for reasons I try to explain, I've often felt I had to be careful in public, like I was up on a wire without a net. Now I'm letting my guard down." (Hillary Rodham Clinton, from the introduction of What Happened)
For the first time, Hillary Rodham Clinton reveals what she was thinking and feeling during one of the most controversial and unpredictable presidential elections in history. Now free from the constraints of running, Hillary takes you inside the intense personal experience of becoming the first woman nominated for president by a major party in an election marked by rage, sexism, exhilarating highs and infuriating lows, stranger-than-fiction twists, Russian interference, and an opponent who broke all the rules. This is her most personal memoir yet.
In this audiobook she describes what it was like to run against Donald Trump, the mistakes she made, how she has coped with a shocking and devastating loss, and how she found the strength to pick herself back up afterward. With humor and candor, she tells listeners what it took to get back on her feet - the rituals, relationships, and reading that got her through and what the experience has taught her about life. She speaks about the challenges of being a strong woman in the public eye, the criticism over her voice, age, and appearance, and the double standard confronting women in politics.
She lays out how the 2016 election was marked by an unprecedented assault on our democracy by a foreign adversary. By analyzing the evidence and connecting the dots, Hillary shows just how dangerous the forces are that shaped the outcome and why Americans need to understand them to protect our values and our democracy in the future.
The election of 2016 was unprecedented and historic. What Happened is the story of that campaign and its aftermath - both a deeply intimate account and a cautionary tale for the nation.

Theirs always to side to a story!
It's nice to hear Hillary's side of this election, what goes into a campaign, how much work it takes and the emotional effects it has on people. You don't have to agree with her political views to listen to this book, as it goes over much more than just her position on policy, As a Canadian, I took great interest in the USA 2016 election as whoever became president would also affect my government!
Hillary was defeated, she took time to mend her wounds, then she stood up and faced the world!

An authentic, captivating and inspiring listen
Hillary Clinton delivers in a splendid manner an humble and honest recollection of the 2016 presidential campaign. Unguarded and very human she describes in a very objective way the events that lead to the election of Donald Trump on November 8th 2016. Never complaining and always willing to admit the mistakes of her campaign, she tells her side of the story, shedding an even brighter light on the unfairness of the race and her description of already infuriating events of the campaign helps to a better understanding and makes them even more alarming. Not abdicating in face of the adversity, she reasserts her devotion towards the American people, still aims for the greater good and brings a powerful message of hope.

Excellent
This was a fascinating & excellent audiobook. Lots of (as objective as possible) introspection, backed by data, with no excuses for the mistakes made or Secretary Clinton's own personal limitations. It is more hopeful than filled with lament. No doubt that this woman would have been an excellent President.

Motivating
Hillary lays out in plain terms what’s at stake and that we should get involved in local issues and voice our opinions. At the very least, get out and vote. A great motivator for young people and especially for women to take a stand and be the leaders of the future. I didn’t really know her but now admire her strength and past commitment public service.

A Tragedy: Hillary Should Have Been President!
I don't know how she got through the anger and injustice! What a testament to the person she is! The biggest thing I got from this is that Comey was really the cause of her loss. He has a lot to answer for. As the IG report said, he was insubordinate! Unless he is admitting to his part in the demise of America's democracy to autocracy, he needs to be silent forevermore! Hillary tells her story unlike any narrator could! Beautifully done! Onward!
