Publisher's Summary

The hero of Will Save the Galaxy for Cash returns to do what he does best. Which is - what again, exactly?

With the age of heroic star pilots and galactic villains completely killed by quantum teleportation, the ex-star pilot currently named Dashford Pierce is struggling to find his identity in a changing universe.

Then, a face from his past returns and makes him an offer he can't refuse: take part in just one teeny weeny, slightly illegal, daring heist, and not only will he have the means to start the new life he craves, but also save his childhood hero from certain death.

How hard could that be? If you need to ask - you don’t know Dashford Pierce.

Before long, Pierce is surrounded by peril, and forced to partner with the very same supervillains he'd spent his heroic career thwarting. But when he's confronted by the uncomfortable truth that star pilots might not have been the force for good they had intended to be, he begins to wonder if the villains hadn't had the right idea all along....

A good laugh

jacques mckeown's at it agian! the new characters are fantastically written, the world building is great. Mckeown's cynicism portrayed by Yahtzee never ceases to amuse and im looking forward to his next adventure, or mishap, depending on your definition.

Yahtzee's Best Book So Far

I really enjoy all the books Yahtzee has put out so far, but Will Destroy the Galaxy for Cash is by far my favourite. It's a wonderful romp through space that's dripping with satire and sarcasm. I'm seriously hoping for more books in this series as they have definitely taken their rightful place in my top 5 series of all time.

Completely prying awesome!

I think this series has to be the best antidote to the pandemic ever. I really can't wait for the next book in the series. Yahtzee Crowshaw is a master of hilarious analogies, nutty science and weird and wonderful characters. in addition, his narration is quite brilliant, making all the characters come to life so vividly, I'm going to miss them all, even the bad guys. Hurry up with the next book, I'm like an addict without my poison!

The voices are so good!

The story is obviously good, but the voices done by the author really sell it.

Story OK but Narration Volume Poor

I had to return this book because of poor narration. The sound level was way too erratic. I often listen to my books in the car and was not able to set the volume so I could hear all of the voices. Some are normal volume but others are very quiet. I had to backup and relisten to many parts that I got through but still don't know what was said by some of the characters. If listening in a quiet area with no distractions the narration would be fine.
The story seemed to be good though.

A zany take on 'everything that can go wrong will'

This book is exactly as advertised: a wacky satire of the golden age of space fantasy as told by aging, down on their luck former heroes and villains. It's also a heist novel in which everything goes horribly wrong, and it's about coming to terms with reality. The side characters are memorable, the main character is a somewhat sympathetic but stubborn misanthrope and scoundrel ,and the villain(s) oddly memorable in their own ways.

I should have liked it, but...I didn't. Perhaps it's because I didn't empathize enough with the MC, or maybe it's because it always seemed to involve things going wrong in a way that reminded me of a dysfunctional RPG group. Either way, it grabbed me enough that I finished listening to it, but not enough to make me want to read more.

Well done

The first sequel to come from a Yahtzee Crowshaw book and it does not disappoint. The universe is expanded (quite literally) organically and the new story fits well with the first.

Great vocal performance

You can really tell that Yahtzee has more than a decade of vocal performance experience and pitch perfect comedic timing to go with it.
