De El Evangelio Según Mateo 1:18-25

El nacimiento de Jesús, el Cristo, fue así: Su madre, María, estaba comprometida para casarse con José, pero antes de unirse a él, resultó que estaba encinta por obra del Espíritu Santo. 19 Como José, su esposo, era un hombre justo y no quería exponerla a vergüenza pública, resolvió divorciarse de ella en secreto.

20 Pero cuando él estaba considerando hacerlo, se le apareció en sueños un ángel del Señor y le dijo: «José, hijo de David, no temas recibir a María por esposa, porque ella ha concebido por obra del Espíritu Santo. 21 Dará a luz un hijo, y le pondrás por nombre Jesús, porque él salvará a su pueblo de sus pecados.»

22 Todo esto sucedió para que se cumpliera lo que el Señor había dicho por medio del profeta: 23 «La virgen concebirá y dará a luz un hijo, y lo llamarán Emanuel» (que significa «Dios con nosotros»).

24 Cuando José se despertó, hizo lo que el ángel del Señor le había mandado y recibió a María por esposa. 25 Pero no tuvo relaciones conyugales con ella hasta que dio a luz un hijo, a quien le puso por nombre Jesús.

This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. 19 Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.

20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, t because he will save his people from their sins.”

22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” w (which means “God with us”).

24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. 25 But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

A los pocos días María emprendió viaje y se fue de prisa a un pueblo en la región montañosa de Judea. 40 Al llegar, entró en casa de Zacarías y saludó a Elisabet. 41 Tan pronto como Elisabet oyó el saludo de María, la criatura saltó en su vientre. Entonces Elisabet, llena del Espíritu Santo, 42 exclamó:

—¡Bendita tú entre las mujeres, y bendito el hijo que darás a luz! 43 Pero, ¿cómo es esto, que la madre de mi Señor venga a verme? 44 Te digo que tan pronto como llegó a mis oídos la voz de tu saludo, saltó de alegría la criatura que llevo en el vientre. 45 ¡Dichosa tú que has creído, porque lo que el Señor te ha dicho se cumplirá!

46 Entonces dijo María:

—Mi alma glorifica al Señor,

47 y mi espíritu se regocija en Dios mi Salvador,

48 porque se ha dignado fijarse en su humilde sierva.

Desde ahora me llamarán dichosa todas las generaciones,

49 porque el Poderoso ha hecho grandes cosas por mí.

¡Santo es su nombre!

50 De generación en generación

se extiende su misericordia a los que le temen.

51 Hizo proezas con su brazo;

desbarató las intrigas de los soberbios.

52 De sus tronos derrocó a los poderosos,

mientras que ha exaltado a los humildes.

53 A los hambrientos los colmó de bienes,

56 María se quedó con Elisabet unos tres meses y luego regresó a su casa.

At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, 40 where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. 41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42 In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! 43 But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. 45 Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”

46 And Mary said:

“My soul glorifies the Lord

47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,

48 for he has been mindful

of the humble state of his servant.

From now on all generations will call me blessed,

49 for the Mighty One has done great things for me—

holy is his name.

50 His mercy extends to those who fear him,

from generation to generation.

51 He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;

he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.

52 He has brought down rulers from their thrones

but has lifted up the humble.

53 He has filled the hungry with good things

but has sent the rich away empty.

54 He has helped his servant Israel,

remembering to be merciful

1 Timothy 6:2-10, 13-19

Esto es lo que debes enseñar y recomendar. 3 Si alguien enseña falsas doctrinas, apartándose de la sana enseñanza de nuestro Señor Jesucristo y de la doctrina que se ciñe a la verdadera religión, 4 es un obstinado que nada entiende. Ese tal padece del afán enfermizo de provocar discusiones inútiles que generan envidias, discordias, insultos, suspicacias 5 y altercados entre personas de mente depravada, carentes de la verdad. Éste es de los que piensan que la religión es un medio de obtener ganancias. 6 Es cierto que con la verdadera religión se obtienen grandes ganancias, pero sólo si uno está satisfecho con lo que tiene. 7 Porque nada trajimos a este mundo, y nada podemos llevarnos. 8 Así que, si tenemos ropa y comida, contentémonos con eso. 9 Los que quieren enriquecerse caen en la tentación y se vuelven esclavos de sus muchos deseos. Estos afanes insensatos y dañinos hunden a la gente en la ruina y en la destrucción. 10 Porque el amor al dinero es la raíz de toda clase de males. Por codiciarlo, algunos se han desviado de la fe y se han causado muchísimos sinsabores.

Te encargo 14 que guardes este mandato sin mancha ni reproche hasta la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, 15 la cual Dios a su debido tiempo hará que se cumpla. Al único y bendito Soberano, Rey de reyes y Señor de señores, 16 al único inmortal, que vive en luz inaccesible, a quien nadie ha visto ni puede ver, a él sea el honor y el poder eternamente. Amén.

17 A los ricos de este mundo, mándales que no sean arrogantes ni pongan su esperanza en las riquezas, que son tan inseguras, sino en Dios, que nos provee de todo en abundancia para que lo disfrutemos. 18 Mándales que hagan el bien, que sean ricos en buenas obras, y generosos, dispuestos a compartir lo que tienen. 19 De este modo atesorarán para sí un seguro caudal para el futuro y obtendrán la vida verdadera.

These are the things you are to teach and insist on. 3 If anyone teaches otherwise and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, 4 they are conceited and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions 5 and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.

6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 9 Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

I charge you 14 to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 which God will bring about in his own time—God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16 who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen.

17 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18 Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 19 In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

De la Primera Carta de Timoteo 3:1-13

Se dice, y es verdad, que si alguno desea ser obispo, a noble función aspira. 2 Así que el obispo debe ser intachable, esposo de una sola mujer, moderado, sensato, respetable, hospitalario, capaz de enseñar; 3 no debe ser borracho ni pendenciero, ni amigo del dinero, sino amable y apacible. 4 Debe gobernar bien su casa y hacer que sus hijos le obedezcan con el debido respeto; 5 porque el que no sabe gobernar su propia familia, ¿cómo podrá cuidar de la iglesia de Dios? 6 No debe ser un recién convertido, no sea que se vuelva presuntuoso y caiga en la misma condenación en que cayó el diablo. 7 Se requiere además que hablen bien de él los que no pertenecen a la iglesia, para que no caiga en descrédito y en la trampa del diablo.

8 Los diáconos, igualmente, deben ser honorables, sinceros, no amigos del mucho vino ni codiciosos de las ganancias mal habidas. 9 Deben guardar, con una conciencia limpia, las grandes verdades de la fe. 10 Que primero sean puestos a prueba, y después, si no hay nada que reprocharles, que sirvan como diáconos.

11 Así mismo, las esposas de los diáconos deben ser honorables, no calumniadoras sino moderadas y dignas de toda confianza.

12 El diácono debe ser esposo de una sola mujer y gobernar bien a sus hijos y su propia casa. 13 Los que ejercen bien el diaconado se ganan un lugar de honor y adquieren mayor confianza para hablar de su fe en Cristo Jesús.

From 1 Timothy 3:1-13

Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task. 2 Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4 He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect. 5 (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?) 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. 7 He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap.

8 In the same way, deacons m are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. 9 They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. 10 They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.

11 In the same way, the women are to be worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything.

12 A deacon must be faithful to his wife and must manage his children and his household well. 13 Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus.

Aunque espero ir pronto a verte, escribo estas instrucciones para que, 15 si me retraso, sepas cómo hay que portarse en la casa de Dios, que es la iglesia del Dios viviente, columna y fundamento de la verdad. 16 No hay duda de que es grande el misterio de nuestra fe:

Él se manifestó como hombre;

fue vindicado por el Espíritu,

visto por los ángeles,

proclamado entre las naciones,

creído en el mundo,

recibido en la gloria.

Although I hope to come to you soon, I am writing you these instructions so that, 15 if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth. 16 Beyond all question, the mystery from which true godliness springs is great:

He appeared in the flesh,

was vindicated by the Spirit,

was seen by angels,

was preached among the nations,

was believed on in the world,

was taken up in glory.

From 1 Timothy 1:3-7, 12-14

Al partir para Macedonia, te encargué que permanecieras en Éfeso y les ordenaras a algunos supuestos maestros que dejen de enseñar doctrinas falsas 4 y de prestar atención a leyendas y genealogías interminables. Esas cosas provocan controversias en vez de llevar adelante la obra de Dios que es por la fe. 5 Debes hacerlo así para que el amor brote de un corazón limpio, de una buena conciencia y de una fe sincera. 6 Algunos se han desviado de esa línea de conducta y se han enredado en discusiones inútiles. 7 Pretenden ser maestros de la ley, pero en realidad no saben de qué hablan ni entienden lo que con tanta seguridad afirman.

Doy gracias al que me fortalece, Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor, pues me consideró digno de confianza al ponerme a su servicio. 13 Anteriormente, yo era un blasfemo, un perseguidor y un insolente; pero Dios tuvo misericordia de mí porque yo era un incrédulo y actuaba con ignorancia. 14 Pero la gracia de nuestro Señor se derramó sobre mí con abundancia, junto con la fe y el amor que hay en Cristo Jesús.

As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain people not to teach false doctrines any longer 4 or to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. Such things promote controversial speculations rather than advancing God’s work—which is by faith. 5 The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. 6 Some have departed from these and have turned to meaningless talk. 7 They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service. 13 Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. 14 The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

Para La Primera Carta de Juan 3:11-18

11 Éste es el mensaje que han oído desde el principio: que nos amemos los unos a los otros. 12 No seamos como Caín que, por ser del maligno, asesinó a su hermano. ¿Y por qué lo hizo? Porque sus propias obras eran malas, y las de su hermano justas. 13 Hermanos, no se extrañen si el mundo los odia. 14 Nosotros sabemos que hemos pasado de la muerte a la vida porque amamos a nuestros hermanos. El que no ama permanece en la muerte. 15 Todo el que odia a su hermano es un asesino, y ustedes saben que en ningún asesino permanece la vida eterna.

16 En esto conocemos lo que es el amor: en que Jesucristo entregó su vida por nosotros. Así también nosotros debemos entregar la vida por nuestros hermanos. 17 Si alguien que posee bienes materiales ve que su hermano está pasando necesidad, y no tiene compasión de él, ¿cómo se puede decir que el amor de Dios habita en él? 18 Queridos hijos, no amemos de palabra ni de labios para afuera, sino con hechos y de verdad.

For this is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another. 12 Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were evil and his brother’s were righteous. 13 Do not be surprised, my brothers and sisters, if the world hates you. 14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death. 15 Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him.

16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. 17 If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? 18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

Para 1 John 1:5-2:2

Éste es el mensaje que hemos oído de él y que les anunciamos: Dios es luz y en él no hay ninguna oscuridad. 6 Si afirmamos que tenemos comunión con él, pero vivimos en la oscuridad, mentimos y no ponemos en práctica la verdad. 7 Pero si vivimos en la luz, así como él está en la luz, tenemos comunión unos con otros, y la sangre de su Hijo Jesucristo nos limpia de todo pecado.

8 Si afirmamos que no tenemos pecado, nos engañamos a nosotros mismos y no tenemos la verdad. 9 Si confesamos nuestros pecados, Dios, que es fiel y justo, nos los perdonará y nos limpiará de toda maldad. 10 Si afirmamos que no hemos pecado, lo hacemos pasar por mentiroso y su palabra no habita en nosotros.

Mis queridos hijos, les escribo estas cosas para que no pequen. Pero si alguno peca, tenemos ante el Padre a un intercesor, a Jesucristo, el Justo. 2 Él es el sacrificio por el perdón de nuestros pecados, y no sólo por los nuestros sino por los de todo el mundo.

This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.

My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2 He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
