Grief Biography

After losing her 17-year-old daughter in a car accident, Sara began writing. Her words exposed the wounds that only others who experience seismic grief can truly understand. Laying bare the emotional and spiritual sojourn in the days and weeks that followed, she gives listeners a glimpse at the challenges and revelations of a life after tragedy.

I lost my dad five years ago, and have been chronicling my journey from the start, from loss to grief to, unfortunately for me, depression. I've tried my absolute best to put my thoughts and feelings onto paper for this process, with the hope that someone, somewhere, can find value in it. It's been a tough old road; there's no denying that. And my search for a meaningful way forward has led me to writing this book. I hope it can help those who need it.

These letters serve as a way for me to process his emotions, reflect on shared memories, and acknowledge the impact these individuals had on my life.

The Reverend Doctor Herbert F. Brokering, pastor, author, lyricist, speaker, and hymn writer of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), died Nov. 7 of congestive heart failure at his apartment in Bloomington, Minn., according to his son, Mark. The Evangelical Lutheran Church of America news service says in its report, "Brokering, 83, was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Bloomington."
