I was fortunate enough to be on the launch team for this book. I read it prior to it's release date on September 29th, and than just listened to it again on audiobook, finishing it a few mins ago. I truly believe, that in order to fully understand this book and to appreciate the messages and advise she offers in this book, you need to be living in a hard season, or can empathize with understanding what it is like to live thru grief and trauma. While some parts of the book were a bit repetitive from other books Rachel has written, I still appreciate her knowledge and teaching behind the message's she is always delivering to her community. I myself have been living in a hard season for the past 2 years. What I have taken away from this book, especially Chapter 7 (Show Up) , Chapter 9 (Resilience) and the Hold onto Hope (last part of the book) really resonated with me to start doing the work I need to do to be the person I am ment to be and also the mother I need to be to my children. As a person who suffers from debilitating anxiety and depression and has had a traumatic childhood, this was the push I needed to get myself moving in the right direction. I know I am the one who needs to do the work, but I truly admire Rachel for her honesty and for sharing her hard season's with us. For most, maybe this does not matter to you. But for some, especially one's like myself, I don't have this in my life and this book has inspired me and given me hope. Having Rachel to help guide me along the way inspires me more than she will ever know. And for those who think this book is a "tell all" about her divorce from Dave, nah, your wrong. While she does touch on the subject this isn't a book that is focusing on that. Sorry to disappoint you! Remember that YOU matter. And thank you Rachel for sharing your gift with us and I'm hoping that you will take away from the book what I did, if you are going thru a hard season. 2020 will not win! We will make it thru this :)

Just finished this book and I encourage if you are an educator, a mental health therapist, a bus driver or a parent To listen to this book. Dr Jody is passionate and is a game changer in the industry of Children and Mental Health. When most people want to turn a blind eye on that kid who tells you to fuck yourself Dr Jody encourages you to look at this child differently and dig deeper. Don’t give up! Form a connection. I reasonate with what she says so so much. I love that she’s real and is relatable. Plus she’s Canadian. ❤️.
