Nothing earth shattering, but highly enjoyable. I powered through this book like I do all of Dennis Taylor’s books. If you’re a fan, you’ll like this one too.

My name is Kvothe. You may have heard of me. So begins a tale told from his own point of view - a story unequaled in fantasy literature. Now in The Wise Man’s Fear, Day Two of The Kingkiller Chronicle, Kvothe takes his first steps on the path of the hero and learns how difficult life can be when a man becomes a legend in his own time.

What I love about this story is that it's not only long and fun, but it's not overly complicated. So it's easy to put down and pick up later without feeling like you're picking up the wrong book. If you've enjoyed the first book, you'll enjoy this one even more; I preferred the storyline here. Looking forward to the third and final chapter!

Set in a mysterious time where humans numbers are dwindling and the infected are everywhere. Good story and despite being a little slow at times where nothing much happens, it’s an intriguing world that kept my attention throughout. Well worth the listen.

Story
Saul Indian Horse is in critical condition. Sitting feeble in an alcoholism treatment facility, he is told that sharing his story will help relieve his agony. Though skeptical, he embarks on a heartbreaking journey from the present - and into the woods of Northern Ontario, where his life began in a snowy Ojibway camp. The tale that follows is one of great pain and great determination from Richard Wagamese, an author who "never seems to waste a shot" ( New York Times).

In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Sad and disturbing
Reviewed: 2019-12-06
I came into this book only knowing Trevor Noah from his comedy show and very little about him as a person. I knew the book was a bio, but wasn’t expecting it to be so raw and uncomfortable to listen to. There’s no sugar coating here, he’s had a tough upbringing and his book captures that perfectly. Don’t expect to laugh while listening to this book.

Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband Gabriel returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

Story
In 1989 Ken Follett astonished the literary world with The Pillars of the Earth, set in 12th-century England. Readers and listeners ever since have hoped for a sequel. At last, here it is. Although the two novels may be listened to in any order, World Without End also takes place in Kingsbridge, two centuries after the townspeople finished building their exquisite Gothic cathedral. The cathedral is again at the center of a web of love and hate, greed and pride, ambition and revenge.
