I've been reading this book in hard copy for years, and I love that now I can listen to it as I drive! The one negative is the narrator's cringey dragon voice.

In 2014, Theranos founder and CEO Elizabeth Holmes was widely seen as the female Steve Jobs: a brilliant Stanford dropout whose start-up “unicorn” promised to revolutionize the medical industry with a machine that would make blood testing significantly faster and easier. Backed by investors such as Larry Ellison and Tim Draper, Theranos sold shares in a fund-raising round that valued the company at more than $9 billion, putting Holmes’ worth at an estimated $4.7 billion. There was just one problem: The technology didn’t work.

Throughout this book I found myself getting infuriated by the individuals at the head of Theranos, and I am grateful for Carreyrou for writing this story and bringing their misdoings into the light.

Bill Browder's story, and that of Sergei Magnitsky, is incredibly compelling and should be heard by everyone. I could not stop listening, finishing the 14-hr book in 5 days. The new perspective of Russia, corruption, and human rights abuses is truly eye-opening.

As soon as I started this book, the FBI negotiation stories and the practical knowledge pulled me in and I listened to this 8-hour book in one day. I restarted it the next day to review the principles talked about in this book (mirroring, labeling, and tactical empathy) and am enjoying it immensely. 10/10 would recommend~
