Critiques include Kate Reading pronouncing Sadeus differently late in the book after Michael Kramer pronounced it another way for 3/4 of the book and the extremely drawn out plot. That pulled me out of the story momentarily when the plots were finally lashing together. The near death prophetic thing sprinkled throughout is confusing until last 90 minutes of the book (hang in there). Personal, moral issues of characters is repeatedly visited without moving on (possibly because other characters weren't to their cue for all characters to move forward).

Things done well include the clearly defined hard magic system with visuals that would make a movie deal a good option. The intellectual conversations that most characters engaged was wonderfully done, but the scholarly character's conversations were a joy to listen to.

I'm invested and still curious. Book two is already downloaded.

An excellent job, Belgarath.

Narration was good. Some themes in the story become repetitive but still good. Well done.

Intriguing. I found a deeper understanding from the book. The narration was almost soothing. I would recommend this listen.
