Brené Brown has spent the past two decades studying the emotions and experiences that give meaning to our lives, and the past seven years working with transformative leaders and teams spanning the globe. She found that leaders in organizations ranging from small entrepreneurial startups and family-owned businesses to nonprofits, civic organizations, and Fortune 50 companies all ask the same question: How do you cultivate braver, more daring leaders, and how do you embed the value of courage in your culture? This audiobook answers this question.

Brene narrates her book in a relaxed style, adding occasional supports to the listener, who obviously doesn't have all the benefits of having the text in front of them. Brene challenges us towards bravery, full engagement in our work, and having the tough conversations that are hard to have yet are so necessary.

Collaboration. Empowerment. Student leadership. These buzzwords get a lot of press, but what do they really mean for today's students? Can students really handle the responsibility of leading the class? Can they actually learn what they need to if they are working together so often? Won't all this freedom cause chaos in the classroom? Not if you're teaching them to learn like PIRATES!

Learn Like a Pirate is full of interesting and engaging information that is focused on student centered classrooms. Many ideas worth considering for new and veteran teachers alike. The narration is distracting as it is somewhat choppy and a few words mispronounced. Overall, glad that I listened to this book.

It Worked for Me is filled with vivid experiences and lessons learned that have shaped the legendary career of the four-star general and former Secretary of State Colin Powell. At its heart are Powell's "Thirteen Rules" - such as "Get mad, then get over it" and "Share credit" - that introduce his principles for effective leadership: conviction, hard work, and, above all, respect for others. A natural storyteller, Powell offers warm and engaging parables with wise advice on succeeding in the workplace and beyond.
