Most of us grew up with the idea that there is good debt and there is bad debt. Good debts are generally considered to be debts you incur to buy things that can go up in value—like a home or college education. Bad debts are things like credit card balances, where you borrowed money to buy things that depreciate or go down in value, like most consumer goods.

Story
In Hold On to Your Kids, Dr. Neufeld and Dr. Maté explore the phenomenon of peer orientation: the troubling tendency of children and youth to look to their peers for direction - for a sense of right and wrong, for values, identity and codes of behavior. But peer orientation undermines family cohesion, poisons the school atmosphere, and fosters an aggressively hostile and sexualized youth culture. It provides a powerful explanation for schoolyard bullying and youth violence; it is an escalating trend that has never been adequately described or contested.

This books is informative about the dangers of peer orientation without tips on how to be the dominant relationship in their life. I feel like I know I need I be who they spend the most time with outside of school, but not how to do it since the author is down with tech. Not very useful.

This book feels like a rewrite of the author’s other books. It’s not a Parent book to help you, more a diary of a Martha Stewart mom with young girly girls. So painful. Luckily it’s read slow and you can actually finish it in a few hours.
