I wish this book was a series because I want more! I love any story where the main character is knocked down just to adapt, overcome and rule! Especially one with a romance snuck in!

I do like the bit of steamyness without full out sex taking over. Just a bit of dirty ness without pages of descriptive sex lmao

I will await Tricia’s next novel and hope that she continues to use Marisa as the narrator. If you haven’t read The Daughter of the Pirate King duology that Marisa narrates, it’s an easy listen and highly recommend!

Greece in the age of heroes. Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the kingdom of Phthia to be raised in the shadow of King Peleus and his golden son, Achilles. “The best of all the Greeks”—strong, beautiful, and the child of a goddess—Achilles is everything the shamed Patroclus is not. Yet despite their differences, the boys become steadfast companions. Their bond deepens as they grow into young men and become skilled in the arts of war and medicine—much to the displeasure and the fury of Achilles’ mother, Thetis, a cruel sea goddess with a hatred of mortals.

I admit, this book took me a wee bit longer to picture and get into than other books (whether audio or print). I loved the first book so I had high hopes. I was listening and listening for hours and I could just not picture it. I had no idea what was going on at all that I actually went back and forth between this and music at the gym. I eventually took a break and listened to another book (that I finished in 24 hours), then went back to it. And I was finally picturing it and something in my mind was happening. It was around the 3 hour or so mark. I fell in love! As well as started to appreciate and like Frazer’s calm voice and accents. I think before my next book, I may go back and relisten to those first 3 hours now that I know what I know lol. There aren’t anymore Madeline miller books on audible, so I may follow Frazer Douglas’ narrations and pick one of his books next instead. 10/10 would read again!

I admit the starting took a tad bit longer to get into for me than other books. And there were little things that bothered me at the time. But all around, WOW. This is definitely one of those books that even though I have listened to it, I would love to go out and buy the print for my bookshelf to read in the future. 5 stars.

Also the performer was perfect! Will be downloading Achilles immediately as I can’t wait to hear more from both this performer & writer!

There were a few things I did not like about this book. But ended up loving it anyways. Halfway maybe more than I expected.

Tillie Hooper who narrates the series does an amazing job overall, and at changing voices for different characters, expressions, etc.

While these books are not the same story, they kind of have the same idea of 2 girls swapping places in their worlds. So even tho I loved the first 2, I don’t think I’ll continue with the rest of the series. This may change after some time. But right now I’m feeling like I have no interest to see at all based on reading the summaries.

Not gunna lie, I totally have switched and started listening to some books on audible. So I have more time to listen then I would to sit and read. So I used my free credit to download this audio book. AND wow! This really was the YA fiction fix I needed in 2018! Loved it! I’m really sad to see that this series ends at book 2. BUT. I’m thinking about buying the next book for $26 instead of waiting 13 more days for my next free credit on audible! lol Ahh.
Also! Therese is an excellent narrator! Very good as changing voices for different character types! Soothing!

To be honest, this was my first audiobook. So it took me a little bit to get into it. But not much! I'd say somewhere in chapter 3, whether that was because of the story, or because I needed to get used to listening to someone else read it other than myself. Definitely a new experience lol. But in the end, I loved it! And would highly recommend!
