How could this unfunny book get great ratings??

Mat Best is to be commended for his service and for helping out vets in his various businesses. That being said, I don't understand how this book got such great ratings. Its just not very good. For the all his deployments , the training etc. there is very little in here that's funny. In fact, there isn't enough of a story here to even entertain a few friends over beers. Yes, he loved being in the Rangers, but so what? Very disappointed and feel bad dissing a vet, but its a lousy book, no matter how well intentioned the author is.

How can this tripe garnish any decent reviews?

I was reading some reviews and I thought, oh looks interesting, I'll give it a try. For the love of God, why did I waste money on it? Has literacy collapsed to the point that this garbage could get even two stars? Its the silliest, overwritten novel I have listened to in years. It wasn't just bad with purple prose, it was tiresome with silly, unbelievable plots and absurd action. Like North Korea is going to co-operate with the US or there is going to be a nuclear non-proliferation meeting with the US, China ....and Pakistan etc. Come on. We can barely knock off scum like Soleimani without everyone clutching their pearls. And yeah, lets go to a conference after knowing the culprits have an airborne virus that can kill. Forgot to check the air ventilation system? Sorry. Meanwhile that turd Kim Jong-un is going to be protected with armed security in the same room with 8 other "world leaders"? The little porkie would be dead from his asthma if even 1/2 the action happened. I don't think there is one thing in this lousy novel that was believable. It was just absurd and I'm mad at myself for finishing it.

One of the better "prepper" books on the market

First of all, I really liked Kevin Pierce's narration. His tone and delivery is perfect and added a lot.

I found the writing solid and the plot held up. I definitely recommend it, especially for those who love this genre.

My only complaint is that the book series should be sold as a package. The prices for each one are a bit steep for such a short novel.

Better than a novel, this is real life American history. And it has a lot of relevance to today's issues.

Brilliant book. Ignore all the media inspired nonsense on Russia, Mosher does an incredible job outlining the real enemy to our way of life.

Time for Brad Thor & Scot Harvath to retire.

I swore that I would not read any more Thor novels as the Scot Harvath character had become a joke of a "special operator". His last novel, Spycatcher, was just silly - would someone please chop up the dwarf and feed the remains to those damn dogs, . but this plot was even more ridiculous. All the Russians are dumb and their special forces are so amateur that Scot can take two of them out by stringing some wire in front of their ski-doos. Oh yeah, that is believable. But its par for the course now and its why this is definitely the last Thor novel I will ever read.

Betley's first novel and hopefully his last.

Someone had recommended this novel and said we would love the Logan West character. Boy, were they wrong.

I had to suspend belief with all the BS that made it dound like the US Govt is so efficient and brilliant when it comes to terrorism. All the "good" guys are incredible and everyone else is a moron who can't shoot straight. Plot was laughable and much as I generally love these type of books, it just was silly and there were many times when I thought, when will this nonsense end? I respect the US and really like Americans, but come on, who believes this nonsense?? I actually cringed many times when listening to it. Shocked to see some people gave it 5 stars. Really??!!!
Hopefully, Betley improves as this is his first novel. My question is how did this get into print? Are there that few writers of this genre left out there???

Powerful. After all the media lies, now the truth.

Wasn't sure what to expect from this book as so many "officially queer" orgs damned it. What a powerful indictment of the gay and media industry that lies and builds myths to fit the narrative. Brilliantly written and well researched, Jimenez brings the people and town of Laramie to life. And what a searing indictment of the meth and drug fueled life that is behind so many tragedies in America. What shocked me the most about the book was how little I knew of what was really going on. You really wonder who you can believe any more in the media industry. Gay rights? Please.

I liked some of Goodwin's stuff but his one is just silly. Plot holes you can drive a truck through and silly, moronic behaviour by the characters rings hollow. Foolishly bought the 2nd book thinking it had to get better. Ugh. Another credit wasted.

I've liked some of the other Goodwin titles but this series is pathetic. Plot nonsense and characters that are so thin thats its almost laughable. Brother is bad? Why kick him out of the house and then have the nephew kill him. Come on. Lets have something that is believable here. Made a real mistake buying book one and I thought book two has to get better. Nope! How do I get a refund???
