Sadness, shame, helplessness, anger, embarrassment, disappointment, frustration, and vulnerability. In 30 years as a practicing psychologist, Dr. Joan Rosenberg has found that what most often blocks people from success and feeling capable in life is the inability to experience, move through, and handle these eight unpleasant feelings. Knowing how to deal with intense, overwhelming, or uncomfortable feelings is essential to building confidence, emotional strength, and resilience.

I am happy with this resourceful book to help me become aware of what is going on inside (emotions, thoughts, attitudes) and thus the ability to change it.
However i am a practical person too and the many exercises are dispersed and not easy to locate. That was frustrating. The chapters are not clear about how to change your response to situations. It is it not personal, it seems to be the problem in many books i read now...where they explain mostly versus help you change your ways. thank you for writing this book, it is something that I will try to use on how to observe and change my coping mechanisms.

I was seeking self-healing protocols for trauma and emotional wounding. Not an easy topic. And not easy to find a genuine and practical process. I think i truly found a gem here to greater self-love and great universal love. Take heart for all the ones that have been living with emotional wounds.

"Wake up to the miracle you are," he directs. "Here's what you've forgotten: You're a f*cking miracle of being." It isn't other people that are standing in your way; it isn't even your circumstances that are blocking your ability to thrive. It's yourself and the negative self-talk you keep telling yourself.

i really liked this book when it spoke to me. This un nutured past can cause you to have disorganized thinking. I was not even aware of that but it has caused me to cogitate and thinking in circles and was wondering why? This was enough to make this book a worthwhile investment. Also i find comfort to know that all my life i tried to create comfort in my physical space and that seems to be important part of healing too among other things. The important aspect is closure and how you close will determine your quality of life and the freedom to live fully. According to me you cannot change an unemotional mother so why bother and waste emotions when unconsciously you are trying to change her when you need to focus on you. I feel though that this can be more in depth but for that price i should not complain.
