Her senses grow sharper, her thinking clearer, and for the first time in her life she feels herself fully in control. By the age of 16, she's competing for the US Open championship. Excellent read. It definitely helped me understand after watching the show on Netflix. I don’t know how to play chess but loved the read none the less. Great narrator! I could listen to her all the time.

Heart Wrenching!

Great narration and book, but wow, this was a tough listen! This is not for everyone. Through the story, I could not fathom how a mother could do what she did to the girls, others and get more cruel as the chapters went on. Shelly was and is, a true “bad seed”. My husband would walk in the kitchen and say, “WHY are you listening to that?” Guess I had so much empathy for the family members and had to continue to know that there was going to be closure for the girls.
