I bought this with having read people being upset about it not being a sequel book but being set in the same universe as previous works of Mr. Clines. With that in mind I decided to consider this book an independent work and not try and make it work with other novels story lines. This book was in fact a great listen. Like many sci-fi books I put my reality hat on the coat rack and sat down and just listened. It has a very good robust cast with interesting back stories that aren't muddying up the main plot. While you could unjustly slim this down as "just zombies on the moon" but its quite unfair. The book does not really have to much added meaning to the "zombies" as any other work does (walking dead for example). It actually uses the creatures more as a prop for other narratives and character building elements that I really enjoyed. Ray Porter as usual delivered a great performance making the characters even more believable!

A very pleasant discovery!

I bought this set of books really on nothing more than a whim. I normally am a sci-fi person when it comes to books. However within 20 minutes I was completely hooked. The story here is very well thought out and written. The author showing us a world where kids for the main part are the survivors and the horrors and joys they find is a great perspective or foundation for this world. Watching characters grow into adulthood and figure out how communities, family, friendships and enemies develop to me had more impact due to this foundation. In all honesty for me making knowing where the characters went next and what happened to them feel very personally invested to learn these facts. The narrator also really brings this series to life. Adam Barr did a wonderful job in creating these characters in my mind and keeping them separate as it is a decent size cast of characters to keep track of. This a skill that he has learned very well and I thank him for it. I have already purchased the follow up series with great anticipation as to what happens next!

Honestly I just didn't get invested in the story or characters at all. I've been trying to figure out or put a finger what rubbed me the wrong way and I would say it's the politics of the story. Well the characters are well thought out, the political ideas are not explained enough for me to become intrigued by them. I think this was just a result of the author wanting to focus more on the characters themselves rather than spending a large amount of time trying to detail what sounded like complex political and societal structures which I imagine could be a book by itself. Sadly I didn't enjoy the narration as much as I would have liked. Again I believe since I didn't get a great connection with the story it hurt my opinion of it. I will be on the look out for other books narrated by Colin Morgan as he seemed to have great range and imagination in trying to bring the characters alive. My conclusion is the book is definitely worth a listen. I don't have buyers remorse or anything silly like that. The story has great potential to carry on for those who like the idea's put forth by the author. I believe my title says it all as for my opinion though, I think it was just a case of a book that wasn't for me but many others seemed to have really enjoyed.

I grabbed this book on a whim one day without even reading the synopsis. What a great whim to follow. The characters are well thought out and presented in a way I found them to be very engaging. Also the narration was excellent in all aspects. This book is definitely worth a read/listen if you love sci-fi stories.

This has some well thought out characters. Also the narrator was also quite good. The third book was a bit tough to follow for me though and is the only reason I’m giving it four stars instead of five. It felt like I’d missed part of the story somewhere. Maybe the author was referencing another novel in this world.

This series is extremely well performed and the characters are quite detailed. I really enjoyed it. There was a small disconnect for me as the books are spaced apart in time and no explanation is given as to why they aren’t there anymore.

The only issue I had with this book was a staticky on the recording. Probably a cassette tape port. The story itself was excellent and the narrator was very talented.

I bought this in movie form years ago and really enjoyed it. I'd always heard the book was better and its definitely true. My only note not really complaint is the narrator has a fairly one tone voice making his work to create a voice for each character a bit one note but he gets to job done fairly well.

This is is a great book that is very enjoyable. The story has been a favorite of mine for many years and I decided to add it to my #Audible1 library. However there is some poor production music played between chapters trying to make it feel scary I guess. It really takes you out of the story if you don't know its coming.
