Five years ago Corin Cadence's brother entered the Serpent Spire - a colossal tower with ever-shifting rooms, traps, and monsters. Those who survive the spire's trials return home with an attunement: a mark granting the bearer magical powers. According to legend, those few who reach the top of the tower will be granted a boon by the spire's goddess. He never returned. Now it's Corin's turn. He's headed to the top floor, on a mission to meet the goddess.

it's a really good quick moving story for such a long book. the audio performance is fantastic. the only reason I didn't give it a five Les my download and it may just have been my version skipped a lot.

I enjoyed the book immensely the story and narration were excellent.
my only disappointment was the quality of the download itself. it was quite choppy and whole sentences ended up being skipped at important times in the story. but the story itself was good enough that I still felt it deserves a five star rating.

Dalinar Kholin's Alethi armies won a fleeting victory at a terrible cost. The enemy Parshendi summoned the violent Everstorm, which now sweeps the world with destruction and in its passing awakens the once peaceful and subservient parshmen to the horror of their millennia-long enslavement by humans. While on a desperate flight to warn his family of the threat, Kaladin Stormblessed must come to grips with the fact that the newly kindled anger of the parshmen may be wholly justified.
