Histoire
Connell and Marianne grew up in the same small town, but the similarities end there. At school, Connell is popular and well liked, while Marianne is a loner. But when the two strike up a conversation - awkward but electrifying - something life changing begins. A year later, they’re both studying at Trinity College in Dublin. Marianne has found her feet in a new social world while Connell hangs at the sidelines, shy and uncertain. Throughout their years at university, Marianne and Connell circle one another.

NOTHING HAPPENS!
Évalué le: 2020-09-30
It took me FOREVER to get through this book! I literally paused it and ended up reading 6 other books until I finally came back & just finished this.
I felt like something needs to happen here - There must be a reason that Gwyneth Paltrow recommended this book....There isn't. The book just ends, nothing is wrapped up, nothing happens....
The only plus I will say is that the narrator has a lovely voice & was quite pleasant to listen to.

Histoire
It is the last season of high school life for Nadia Turner, a rebellious, grief-stricken, 17-year-old beauty. Mourning her own mother's recent suicide, she takes up with the local pastor's son. Luke Sheppard is 21, a former football star whose injury has reduced him to waiting tables at a diner. They are young; it's not serious. But the pregnancy that results from this teen romance - and the subsequent cover-up - will have an impact that goes far beyond their youth.

Just finished this & I really enjoyed the story & also the narrator was wonderful and has a beautiful voice.
I wanted to make a little note about the other reviewers saying this book was "pro life propaganda" and I actually have to disagree. I just think it was pointing out the reality that some people get an abortion & regret it...Or have a hard time moving on from that decision. There are negative abortion comments, from the church women, but most Christians (especially elderly ones) are against abortion.
I just wanted to note that as I was listening to this I didnt feel like it was preachy or pro life.

Histoire
There is a church not too far from us that recently added a $25 million addition to their building. Our local newspaper ran a front-page story not too long ago about a study revealing that one in five people in our city lives in poverty. This is a book about those two numbers. It's a book about faith and fear, wealth and war, poverty, power, safety, terror, Bibles, bombs, and homeland insecurity, It's about what happens when Christians support, animate, and participate in the very things Jesus came to set people free from.

I don’t think I would say this is my favourite Rob Bell book, but it’s still worth a read.
Definitely listen till the end- he ties it all up.
