- A Novel
- Written by: Ernest Cline
- Narrated by: Wil Wheaton
- Length: 11 hrs and 50 mins
It's just another day of high school for Zack Lightman. He's daydreaming through another boring math class, with just one more month to go until graduation and freedom - if he can make it that long without getting suspended again. Then he glances out his classroom window and spots the flying saucer.

Comes across as a rushed or poorly edited story.
It was entertaining enough. Wil Wheaton has a nack for narrating these sorts of books. Still, the story as a whole comes across as amateurish or rushed. It's hard to describe. Perhaps an inexperience editor? Seamingly pivotal events are on weak footing or painfully contrived. Generally they don't amount to much. Almost from page one, at least for me, there was a painfully obvious neon light-up elephant in the room from which all the characters were shielding their eyes to ensure they would be "surprised" at the reveal.
It was worth a credit. Barely. Once listened to, quickly forgotten.

Stephen Fry is a master
Stephen Fry's personal love for Sherlock Holmes comes through in his masterful reading of this collection. An absolute delight filled with well acted voices, regional dialects and accents. Don't be surprised it you start listening again from the beginning as soon as you reach the end.
