The worst book I've read this year. Predictable, with a familiar plotline that has been done better. Characters are unlikable, so you don't really care who gets popped off. I kept reading, hoping to be proved wrong, expecting to be misled by false clues. But no. Bread crumbs as big as baguettes.

Disappointing end to a good series.

While I enjoyed the previous two books, I found this one plodding and predictable.

Be careful with the narrator's accent...

I really wasn't expecting much from this book, other than a bedtime audiobook that my Pokemon crazed kids (4 & 6yo) might enjoy. I didn't pay much attention when it's playing until I heard the narrator shout a really horrible word! I stopped the playback and listened again. What he had been meaning to shout was "That little horror!", but due to the narrator's accent, it sounds exactly like "That little whore!". I'm returning it before my kids decide to run around the house chanting little "horror"...

I'm with the other readers; the narrator really butchers this novel. She doesn't even try to affect the musical cadence of a thick Newfoundland accent. It wouldn't matter so much if the slang and local dialect weren't written in to the dialogue, but it is. It's like listening to Beloved read by a white woman from Minnesota.

Reading this book felt like being wrapped up cozy on the couch with your favorite romcom on TV. No surprises, but a satisfying story with familiar characters. A great book to read when you need a break from heavier reading.

I don't like the Booktrack.

I'm enjoying the story so far, but find the 'Booktrack' to be distracting. I think I'll be returning this and purchasing the music free version.

Perhaps my favourite of Tamora Pierce's series'. Strong female characters, decent narration. Good beginning to a great series.

Not her best, but worth a read. Set a good foundation for upcoming books. Poor narration/editing; mispronounced words including the author's name.
