David’s writing is smooth as silk. Descriptive, plain spoken, and enjoyable to listen to. The performance was very well done.

Definitely for climbers

If you are a climber, you will get more from this story. If not (I am not), the story becomes tedious and repetitious. I’m not sure what I was expecting. Perhaps a story that applied more to non climbers. His story of the two woman in his life also is rather predictable.

Great Message.

The message Mr. Goggins elaborates on is tremendous. It gives you much to think about and you can easily apply these learnings to your life. Yes, some of it is common sense, but hearing David’s examples really brings the story to life.

I would have liked to understand how his relationship with his own child was impacted by his amazing exploits and life given the difficult childhood he had. That’s a real part of the overall equation as well.

If there was one minor suggestion I could make, the cussing does get a bit tedious at times and the gratuitous way he describes female body parts may offend some listeners (I was not). Just a bit repetitious.

All in all, a great message and that’s the point!

Nothing Really New Here

There's not much new here. Many of these 'self help' books are filled with common sense advice. This is no different. Really now .... change your Mindset to direct and change results; Be outward focused; Think about what the customer wants; Listen to what the customer wants. I kept waiting for new insights. There really weren't any. Any book written by an 'Institute' is a brochure for that Institute. This is what this book was about as far as I can see.

An incredible story of redemption and coming back from the odds. If JJ can get through what he did, anyone can escape from anything. Joseph comes across as a real, no holds barred bad ass ... but an extremely compassionate and empathetic person. His performance of the book was awesome. He didn’t just read it, it was like a one man play. Well worth the time to listen to this!
