The third book was by far my favorite. Had a little bit of everything in this one. The part I enjoyed best was no repeated self examination or location updates like the the second book which got annoying. Can't wait for the fourth.

John Perry did two things on his 75th birthday. First, he visited his wife's grave. Then he joined the army. The good news is that humanity finally made it into interstellar space. The bad news is that planets fit to live on are scarce - and alien races willing to fight us for them are common. So, we fight, to defend Earth and to stake our own claim to planetary real estate. Far from Earth, the war has been going on for decades: brutal, bloody, unyielding.

Great idea for a plot. The story was great until it fell into the trap of the main character being flawless and far too lucky. Finishing was easy thanks to a great performance but the story lost it's strongest idea of a widower in his third life. ( you will get that later)

The reading of the story was great. The story itself was not. At times felt like Halo then star wars. A lot of jumping between characters withim the chapters made it confusing who was currently talking.
