Of healing

Very easy to like this book. All characters so severely damaged rise to love and live again.

This is fiction, so the heroic saviour is delivered. I hated knowing that most of the horrors described happened, though maybe not exactly on the date or place ascribed in the book. Eventually I had to skip pages, then chapters as the painful experiences accumulated.

I feared that the ending would be the hero dead or insane. That he lived and loved and prospered was a relief, though I don’t understand how. So the ending was great.

The horrors of World War 2 should never be forgotten. The people who fought the evil unleashed by Hitler and
Mussolini are mostly dead. So I am grateful for the new stories (such as The Zookeeper’s Wife) and Beneath a Scarlet Sky are being published for today’s citizens to read.

This is not a light easy book to pass away a cozy evening. It is worth the time and thought to digest. War is still too possible in our time.

Really dysfunctional families

Plot very suspense filled. It’s what kept me reading.

Characters well developed.

I hated being involved I even vicariously. With these people.
