I wondered if the series should have already been over, however, Louise Penny found a fresh spin. Loved it. Great story with the gravitas one has come to expect! I do still miss the narration of Adam Sim (earlier in the series, or possibly different production company?), who is more a voice actor, as opposed to the narration of Robert Bathurst, who will never be forgiven for his pronunciation of Rocket Richard.

I have listened to several Lisa Jewell - I enjoy most of her books, but this one (and another one or two to be honest) was about characters I never really cared about, so I never really cared about what happened to them. I finished the book as I was mildly curious... Good narration.

Loved Andrea Vernon, this one didn't disappoint. While the characters were not perhaps as colorful as in Andrea Vernon stories, the main character was well-written and relatable, and also funny and flawed. Amusing, entertaining, funny narrator. Was looking for a book that had nothing to do with real life, and this one ticked the boxes. Looking forward to the next one.

A decent read, not her best work.

A good solid listen. Enjoyable, but not as riveting as her other works. Characters are good, I would have liked a bit more depth in their development, especially the secondary characters. They were a bit flat, so at times the intensity of the main characters in relation to them was not understandable. The narrator was good, interesting choice to have a female narrator when the characters are primarily male.

An enjoyable story, will continue the series

I purchased this to listen to as it was on sale, and my 9 year old daughter is devouring the printed books. I was more interested in ensuring that this is appropriate for her. Turns out, I enjoyed it a lot too; it is well-written, very well narrated, and appropriate for younger audiences who are voracious readers. A good read.

I am not sure if I would have preferred to maybe read this one. I didn't particularly care for the narration, dialogue was done well, but did not like her approach to the narrative. At times seemed one long sentence. I was bored at times, and just when I decided I would give it a chance and then could engage with the characters a bit, they would shortly thereafter become either annoying, abrasive, overly passive, or just unlikable. I had to finish it however, which I don't always do, so it wasn't terrible. If you have had this book recommended, I would say read, don't listen.

I love Tana French's murder squad series, though I have listened to them all out of order (though they are mainly stand alone books, I would normally read in the order they are written). Great detail in the plot, as always, but it is the intense central character that is so engaging in all her books- whether you like them or not, they pull you in. Incredible dialogue between the characters, I can't imagine how hard that is to craft... Narrator was excellent, though at times the female voices were a bit hard to buy or too whiny (and when intended to BE whiny, perhaps too much so), but by the end of the story, the tone of the female characters had changed, or he was better, or it was so engaging I didn't notice anymore. Loved it. This and The Trespasser probably my favourite of hers.

A solid 4.5 for me. My listening experience was a bit fragmented by life, so I think listening on a car trip or in bigger chunks would enhance this. The voice actor was remarkable, the writing so beautiful. So touching, "weightier" stories like this I usually try to read but this was a worthy listen. Highly recommend.

Quirky fun story but the real standout the amazing narrator! She is phenomenal and I look forward to exploring her other work.

I will admit it took me awhile to connect with the characters, but as the story went on, I became really invested. They irritated, amused, and bewildered me, just like life, haha. Remarkable narrator, great accents to my ear! I will look for other of her works. I enjoy Lisa Jewell's books, another solid work.
