A solid 4.5 for me. My listening experience was a bit fragmented by life, so I think listening on a car trip or in bigger chunks would enhance this.
The voice actor was remarkable, the writing so beautiful. So touching, "weightier" stories like this I usually try to read but this was a worthy listen.
Highly recommend.

Quirky fun story but the real standout the amazing narrator! She is phenomenal and I look forward to exploring her other work.

I will admit it took me awhile to connect with the characters, but as the story went on, I became really invested. They irritated, amused, and bewildered me, just like life, haha.
Remarkable narrator, great accents to my ear! I will look for other of her works.
I enjoy Lisa Jewell's books, another solid work.

Very entertaining, amusing. Have listened to all available Gene Doucette novels - I'm pretty sure I would enjoy them if I read them too, but Steve Carlson is a fantastic narrator for the light-hearted and cheeky tone of these books. A great match. Was sad it was over.

I usually enjoy Lisa Jewell's books but...

I have read a few of her books before so was looking forward to this one. Writing is good, as usual, Helen Duff gives a good performance. I just couldn't seem to care very much about the main characters. I liked Ralph but didn't like Jem, found her mainly irritating. Thought a couple of the secondary story lines petered out rather than resolved. Just left me underwhelmed.
I will definitely read her books in the future but this one didn't do it for me.

I was a bit hesitant to purchase because of other reviews, but I loved this book. I have enjoyed most of Liane Moriarty's books (with one exception), and this was a winner. I love her writing, the way her characters have traits that make them so human and relatable. It may be a bit of time of life thing for me, as I am usually just a bit younger or just a bit older than some of the main characters, and there is a lot in their lives to which I can relate, mainly because of their inner thoughts. Caroline Lee narrating - performing - gives such depth to the story. I believe this was the first of Moriarty's books that made me cry as well as laugh. The story went to some strange places but I thought it was quirky, strange, and charming.
4 1/2 stars.
It was long but I generally listen at a faster rate anyway.

But it was just too long! I usually love her contemplative prose, her character's reflection and development. There was just too, too much of all that.
Will await her next Dublin Murder Squad book.

Certainly 4 1/2 If I could. Engaging characters, interesting story. The narration was superb- will be seeking out more from both the narrator and author.

Plot was compelling enough to finish, but story and characters mediocre at best. Meh. Narrator did the dialogue well, did not enjoy the style she used in the narrative however.

I love her books but this my least favourite...

Really just wanted to get on with it already, drawn out. Good character development as usual, just didn't care too much about them. Still love the author and the voice actor is great!
