Story
Richard Dawkins' brilliant reformulation of the theory of natural selection has the rare distinction of having provoked as much excitement and interest outside the scientific community as within it. His theories have helped change the whole nature of the study of social biology, and have forced thousands to rethink their beliefs about life.

A bit too long.

I love Dawkins books, but I think an abridged version would get the job done.

Story
On the world called Hyperion, beyond the law of the Hegemony of Man, there waits the creature called the Shrike. There are those who worship it. There are those who fear it. And there are those who have vowed to destroy it. In the Valley of the Time Tombs, where huge, brooding structures move backward through time, the Shrike waits for them all.

Too much unnecessary detail.

My favorite books are space operas (Bobiverse, Red Rising, Expeditionary Force, Dune, etc...) so I figured a classic like this would keep me busy for some time. Not at all. I kept loosing interest, they're is simply too much unecesseray details. More than half of the time I just kept saying "get on with the story and stop telling me the room as 3 pictures and what they are, the color of the carpet, etc..."

Story
With well over 200 million copies sold, this novel ranks among the most famous works in the history of fictional literature. It depicts the plight of the French peasantry demoralized by the French aristocracy in the years leading up to the revolution, the corresponding brutality demonstrated by the revolutionaries toward the former aristocrats in the early years of the revolution, and many unflattering social parallels with life in London during the same time period.

The audio is has to much bass. Too much detail.

I've not been lucky the past few months. Prior to the last 4 months I had only disliked 2 books. Now of my last 4, it's 3! All of them have a central theme that turns me off... Too much detail. I don't need to know what color are the rocks on the road, the leaves, etc... or which way the wind is blowing when it has no relevance to the story except it's just "there". Also, the audio. This is the first time I find a bad audio. There is way too much bass and not enough clarity.
