Easy read - decent story / but very predictable. Not many plot twists or things that the reader doesn’t see coming already. It was a nice story about a nice woman who has some pretty cool stuff happen to her later in life. Kind of nice to see that life can be full of positive surprises even as we grow older. Definitely a “beach read” or when you want something “easy”.

As a non-US citizen, and really not that into US politics, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this book
I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about the Obama’s life including childhood, marriage, family and political career. It almost mad me sad that they weren’t still in the White House given the political environment that the US currently lives in.
Very entertaining and a good glimpse into what life as the First Family would be like.
I also really liked Mrs Obama’s constant message of empowering women/girls and being positive.
She is at excellent narrator. A very enjoyable choice.

People say Beartown is finished. A tiny community nestled deep in the forest, it is slowly losing ground to the ever encroaching trees. But down by the lake stands an old ice rink, built generations ago by the working men who founded this town. And in that ice rink is the reason people in Beartown believe tomorrow will be better than today. Their junior ice hockey team is about to compete in the national semifinals, and they actually have a shot at winning.

I really struggled with this book right from the beginning, however, I stayed with it just to see if the pace would pick up or the content become more interesting. For me, it did not, and I found myself becoming less interested in the story as time went on.

I found the story too descriptive and almost gets lost at times in the detail. I am still trying to figure out what the point of the whole thing was as I didn’t really understand the plot or how the story progresses other than following the lives of the three main characters, which, were quite depressing.

Perhaps this book accurately reflects the Depression era and the aftermath of that and war, however, I still didn’t find it inspired me to listen.

The performances were excellent and was part of he reason I continued. They added to the “doom and gloom” of this novel.

Not sure who I would recommend this story to.

From the beginning of this book, to the end, I was caught up in the characters, their stories and the story that unfolded amongst them. Right to the end the author had me in suspense and guessing what was going to happen. An easy listen that is both entertaining and well written. Highly recommend - it went beyond my expectations.

A fun and engaging sequel about all our favourite characters. I liked the historical angle and learning a bit more about the background of the characters. The story always kept me entertained and was enjoyable to listen to from beginning to end. Would recommend, especially if you have already read the other two novels in the series.
