What a demotivating book. Dude sounds like he’s frustrated and ranting the whole time. Boo.

In Joyful, designer Ingrid Fetell Lee explores how the seemingly mundane spaces and objects we interact with every day have surprising and powerful effects on our mood. Drawing on insights from neuroscience and psychology, she explains why one setting makes us feel anxious or competitive while another fosters acceptance and delight - and, most importantly, she reveals how we can harness the power of our surroundings to live fuller, healthier, and truly joyful lives.

Hearing Ingrid read this book made it for me. Her delicate descriptions of ordinary things created awe. It was almost meditative listening her calm demeanour. Delightful!

The first book of its kind, Peak Performance combines the inspiring stories of top performers across a range of capabilities - from athletic, to intellectual, to artistic - with the latest scientific insights into the cognitive and neurochemical factors that drive performance in all domains. In doing so, Peak Performance uncovers new linkages that hold promise as performance enhancers but have been overlooked in our traditionally-siloed ways of thinking.

If you are into the psychology of productivity and performance you will not find anything new in this book. All of the studies referenced and other books mentioned in anecdotes are well known. Might be a good intro if it’s your first five into self help books.
